    Critical foreign affairs poll

    This is with regards to Gathering Storm. See that thread for more discussion. Esp. with my regards about their knowledge of the map. It is because of this I do not want to agree to #1.

    This is a multiple choice poll. Vote for which one's you support.

    1. Temporarily cease North/South exploration as described above. This act of good faith would be the basis for any future negotations.

    2. Begin discussion of a potential tech-trading parternship between our two teams. Tech trading would effectively double our respective research rates, ensuring a tech advantage on the world scene.

    3. Exchange information regarding luxuries each of us has discovered North and South of the isthmus (South for us, North for you). Connecting our empires and trading luxuries promises obvious economic advantages.

    4. Simultaneously reveal to each other either: 1) whether or not we have contacted another team, or further 2) precisely which other team(s) we have already contacted. Our future plans depend critically on who our neighbors are, so obtaining this information early should prove useful to both of us.

    of course #1 seems to be a big selling point with them. They may not go along with the other proposals unless they include #1.

    And I didn't vote for #5. I am all for discussing it. But we get the isthmus plain and simple. Esp. considering the southern continent is bigger than the northern.

      OK I'll take back my vote on #4. (see foriegn affairs thread). This won't be necessary if we don't agree to #1. We should be able to go around and see for ourselves.

      the only unit restrictions I'd like to agree to are to stay out of each other's national borders (which at this point are just city borders), and not attack each other (which would prevent them from entering the Northern continent- althought that would piss them off not being able to get by our warriors.

        I vote for #2 only.

        I will go with #3 if we lie/mislead them.

        I will go with #5 if we simply tell them that the Isthmus is the property of the Acme Construction company of Vox Controli, as directed bt the One Voice, and that acme will be determining its fate. ... or ... to be more direct. Forget it. We got here first. It's ours.

          yeah you are right- we only have 1 luxery don't we? We could say we have 1 of each luxery- and thusly cannot trade with them because we are using it. We could say we have one wine, one incense etc.

            3 and 4 we cannot tell them the truth because it will giive away our position

            1 I am not sure about (I don't want to say it)

            5, there is nothing to discuss really, it is ours (but we need to not point out how impotyant it is to us, we can say somthing about discussing it at a later point)

            2, sure, for some techs (not all)

              in the game, the luxuries come in groups (They are together)

              say that we will discuss what luxuries we want to trade when we have road connections

                I never noticed them coming in groups. I'm in another game where I only have one luxery. I'm not sure what you mean by groups.

                  Quite often they come in groups of three. And sometimes four. You either get one or the group. We got one.
