  • Security Procedures for new members

Unfortunately I think we need to discuss this, we have the latest incident at the C3C Demogame that is yet unproven buts there are too many indicators that it happened, and even in the first game of the C3C ISDG, CFC had a security brach from the Brazil team.

Its NOT the same old Poly unfortunately it was one or two years ago.

All the hype for CIV IV is bound to bring new players our way asking to join.

What should we do about it?

To me and this is my humble opinion, if we know someone and they want to join let them in, we have a very close group here, and the babylon guys are now a real close group with myself and Beta.

And we dont need a ton of people on the team.

I say if we know someone, we think they would fit well onn the team, and someone is willing to vouch for them then we let them in?

    Thoughts?

Actually, I think you have the right procedure Con and I fully support it.

I definately concur that the last thing we need is to have a team with hordes of members - after a point it becomes detrimental to the decision making process.

As I noted somewhere, I don't remember... I was an unknown new member in the Babylon group only two months ago. You were gracious enough to let me in where I proceeded to trash the group... but that's another story.

There may be another me out there is all I am saying.

Personally, I guess that I doubt it.

OK, I'm thinking this out as I am writing. Perhaps the idea is to have tiered Demo games - one for newer folks and then whatever us used-up has beens are in. Perhaps we can screen people in that manner?

      I don't know the answer.

Con, you are probably correct. It is just sad.

It is sad, and in the future people like you, due to the actions of a few idiots, will suffer.

Bottomline is, if someone wants to get "known" they are probably going to have to do it other ways like playing PBEM's, posting in the Strat forum, etc.

in the past I have only allowed in known members, or ones that people I know or trust vouched for

in a game that I was part of.. (which I am not with Babylon), it would be similiar

I like that comment. That highlighted noun is detrimental to any process

Slow down and use one syllable words... it's really hard to put this all into a form that ouse-May can understand.
