  • Are We Being Set Up

Shiber posted this - presumably by accident - in the Public Forum.

    Turn 123, 110 BC

Lego has the save, so there's not much time left.
    State your issues.
    Hmm... any thoughts?

We have converted our entire pop to workers and settlers, with minimal defence left. They could get some two dozen workers and all our cities in one fell swoop.

Hey - maybe its just because my mind can think of all the devious approaches. We will see.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

I certainly hope they aren't trying anything. Why would they be trying to eliminate us after offering peace and all the time spent in foreign affairs hashing out the Voxodus plan? They'd have to have a fairly strong attack to take out the stack we have. I'd keep an eye on GS movement though.

Probably just me being paranoid. But - if the hawks have a majority - the way to maximize the benefit would be to have us do exactly what we have done. They would get the cities downsized, with no pop rushing, and set for growth. And they get a huge pile of workers.

But the more I think about it:

      a) it would fly in the face of everything GS stands for, and their statements about how they want to play the game.

      b) they could not kill the stack quickly - as Rhoth has pointed out. So if it did look bad - we could commit mass suicide and deny them the units.

I may consider turning the trailing galley around just in case. He could pull two settlers off if need be. And an empty galley showing up at Legos Minor 10 turns later won't matter anyways if all goes according to plan.

So - I will keep an eye open, but in the meantime - please ignore my suspicious mind.

No problem with a suspicious mind. It's a good way to cover your back.

It's probably good to be a bit paranoid. I think it would be fairly easy to watch for treachery though. Before we gift them the cities and they take The Voice to jump our capital, any major landings on our current land could be suspicious. They only need the one WC to take The Voice.

I think the key turn will be the turn after the actual jump day. Once we gift them our cities and they take The Voice is when the biggest treachery could occur. All our units would be on what is now their territory with no way to leave. If they gift us back a city then their intentions were honorable. But if not...

I talked to Shiber and he said that they are trying to compensate for their slow turn playing in the past, so he was hurrying people up to discuss matters faster.

            Odd.

Well, if it does turn out that we've been set-up, at least we already have two settlers that have already left for Lego Minor...
