  • 850bc (86): Order, Results, Discussion

please note some of the changed orders from the last thread. Also note the new cities.

Plans: BOTH new cities (Leon & Toledo) are worker/settler factories, however Toledo should slip in a temple sooner rather than later to get our northern border expanded.

Madrid is now primary production. Will supply all spearmen for all of the settler factories as needed.

We are paying 8gpt to Vox and still have postive cash flow due to our new cities. This won't last for long as new units will drain the budget. Spain must keep up our REX. Pamplona will produce settlers every 6 turns. Let's start discussing where those Settlers should go.

      I have many points today.

First, we must rethink where to place our cities. We did not think cities could grow as large as Madrid is now at that time and did not plan for it. I belive we should have fewer cities than planned that can grow larger.

Second, my duties as governor of Vigo are inherently difficult as I receive news from around the city at best sporadically. I request a region-based national courier system sponsored by the state.
OOC a screenshot of Vigo every other turn would do nicely OOC

Finally, I must request that Vigo be supplied with a worker. If not I will build one. And I have no qualms disbanding parts of our coastal garrisons to achieve this....

Specifically a road and irrigation south of Vigo is sorely needed.

Pamplona: will grow to size 5 this turn, please set the WFs up as shown below:

          Code:
              #2, shielded grassland
              #7, cattle bonus
              #8, cattle bonus
              #19, shielded grassland
              [B]#20, grassland - new[/B]
          Thanks.

PS: Might be nice to have #20 roaded eventually to get the commerce (and irrigated as well, though it will not improve the city's growth at this point). I will post this in the proper thread as well.

IIRC, this turn is the last for Vigo to switch to a worker and not loose shields... I would recommend switching as I think a worker now will do much more for our civ (no matter which way we choose to play) than a temple in 21 turns (less if we get some more gold and spend it....)

Strongly support Vigo worker. But as slave master, I am aware that I am somewhat biased.

Our people want to build a Forbidden Palace. Maybe we should.

                  Vox needs horses and iron.
                  GS needs iron.

There are Iberian Tribes near Barcelona!

Militay Ave to Legoland, Strong to all others.

GoW has switched to the GREAT LIBRARY. Legoland is building the pyramids.

That punk Picahulu has survived the barbarian hordes

10 more turns on our 10gpt deal with Legoland.

                  military:
Madrid spear moves W, W, SW into Pamplona
                  Watch Rider NE
                  Madrid Exp SW
Cutting Edge 3 moves S, S and attacks barbarian horseman killing him w/o damage.
Cutting Edge 2 moves S, W, W to back up Cutting Edge 1 as there are two more barb horsemen threatening Pamplona.
                  Feocalvos S
                  Jungle Patrol N
GuObs SW, attacks barbarian, takes 1 damage
                  First Rider SE, S
BCN N (sees barbarian warrior to the east)
                  Bulger E
                  Coastal Guard "B" E

                  workers:
                  Arnelos MINE
Ruby & Dejon slaves move S, E, then MINE

                  cities:
Vigo kept at building temple. It has 11 sheilds stored up, switching to worker would waste sheilds. Worker added to build queue.

Pamplona WF moved to #20. Growth in 3, settler in 3.

                    About temples...

A temple in Vigo will expand the borders to the point that these two coastal guards are no more needed there to watch possible foreign ships coming to our land. I think that worths it.

Also a temple in Toledo (after the current worker) would give us the silk monopoly and make any ND attempt to settle a city near the silk a war declaration. Silk monopoly can prove very profitable for us...

Last but not least, please remember that we are engaged in a culuture war in the north, an that we need to keep our culture production to prevent our cities for flipping to the enemy side.

Señor LzPrst, I prefer also to have less, bigger cities that can better show the glory of Spain. However, at this time our cities are small in size, and keeping enough room for all of them would be wasting land, which would result in Spain being outproduced by our competitors. It's ok to have our cities closer, but we must also be prepared to remove some of them and relocate their citizens in the far future when God blessing make them proper enough (OOC: poping settlers/workers from the city and adding them to nearer, best located cities once sanitation is discovered).

With more workers planned, this seems a logic request.
