Barelona: Temple vs. Settler

as soon as Barcelona will have her Temple built, she will be able to work on her hills tiles. This will boost her production potential (assuming that we let Barcelona reach a good pop size)

Madrid should build the settler instead.
It would be done faster, and Madrid can't grow anymore now. Result: Lower production value in Madrid for some time, but what the heck?! We don't have a road connection to iron...


Concerning territories, Barcelona will never gain the most promising due to it's location. astrologix is right with the Temple, border expansion will gain 3 hills and some ocean in first range.

Ok, even before that time comes the closest hill can be worked upon by Barcelonas own workers, if we enhance growth now.
A harbour will drastically increase population, helping Barcelona provide for its own workers... (not slowing other projects)
It's a totally independent project, if you view it from this angle, making many possible queues: e.g. HWTW, HTWW, HWWTW.

You are probably right, but we need Madrid still producing military units for a while (swordmen and Horesemen).

Our military is still weak regarding a possible ND attack, I would improve it first.

Yeah, and Madrid has been one of our paradoxes all the way.
As you say, Madrid prod. should be dedicated to military for some time.

[edit] I see the road has been complete and connecting Madrid. Now there is not a gap in time anymore to build a settler before horsemen. So I suggest sticking to the mil.buildup plan.
