  • Warplan SeaHorse, and Warplan Swordfish

This is a plan for war I tought of, and am now posting for your avaliation, point me the mistakes and such,
it is not veery good, but it is what came to my mind soo...

    Operation SeaHorse
    2/3 galleys , 4/6 horsemen, or 3/5 horsemen and 1 spearman
2/3 stacks of 1 swordsman and 2/3 spearman, or just 2/3 spearman

While the stacks appear at the jungle belt, forcing the enemy (ND) to attack us before we reach their cities (remember the sword is the one who will appear on the stack, so they might think the stack is one full of swordsman), and so they will probably call for reinforcements in their northern cities to aid defending the southern front, leaving light or no garrisons in the north..
Then, our galleys, hidden of their sight but near the shores (remember thei must be put up there while in times of peace!) and loaded with the horsemen approach the enemy coasts and unloads its troops, fighting at best a flank defense, if any at all, capturing some cities and wreaking havoc at the enemy´s position, thus forcing peace or land concessions, if needed.
    Operation SwordFish
    2/3 galleys, 4/6 swordsman
2/3 stacks of 1 swordsman and 2/3 spearman, or just 2/3 spearman

It is the same as the first operation, except that we would use swordsman, stronger in attack, but also slower and without retreat abillity. Although mobility is a prerequisite of this operation, the extra attack might do it. Also, the effect that seeing an army of swordsman just jumping over your undefended flank would be stronger.

Wait for your toughts on this,

Hmm galley's interesting addition to the common tactics of the moment. But they can't attack cities so in battle they have but little worth and it takes very long to move them from the east coast to the west coast in order to make them usable. On the east coast it doesn't matter if we mover over sea or over land, but on the westcoast we can try to attack ND from the west.

One possible problem: ND will spot our loaded vessels while they are near the shore and are well prepared on the western border of their country.

I doubt if this will work and I'm more in favor of ahving more land units. However, we can use one or two galleys to give them the impression we want to attack on their western border and have our main attackforce in thesouth and east, so it becomes easier to attack ND.

The lands to the West of ND cities are all hills and mountains. Putting horses there negates their speed, slowing them down so that ND swords can slaughter them as they try to come down the mountainsides. Only swords should be considered.

Why build galleys at all for this operation when we can build 2-3 extra swords with those shields instead. We need brute force, not gimmicks.

So if I understand this operation, the force in the jungle would be more like a fake, and the real force would disembark using galleys. Am I right?

            Indeed,
the forces at the jungle would be more to force ´em to keep garrisons at the south, and to block any counter-offensive directed against our cities.

That seems a good idea. Unfortunately we don't have galeys right now, but could be implemented in the future.

                Señor Winterius,

I thank you for your proposal, but currently I mostly agree with Señor Aidun Cian, I don't find we are able to build such an attack against ND.

If you read my ideas in the Competition.... thread you will see that I currently am considering a land attack with Horsemen, Swordmen and Spearmen, in two stacks, the first (Horsemen) going to the east side of ND, and the second going to their south, through the jungle.

But it will take still a long time (about 30 turns) before we will be ready for such an operation.... and we should consider the possibility to postpone a bit our aggressiveness, favouring the peaceful development instead.

Preparing for war is a need to peace...
