Great Leaders of Spain
We have rapidly acheived our goal: Our military is of equal strength to Neu Dem and now stronger than any other military we know. We have 3 defenders in each of our border cities with more on the way. We have caught up in our security and we are on track to create a sizeable offensive strength of our own.
It is now time again to discuss what more needs to be done, and what long term plans Spain should adopt.
First and foremost, I will not allow Spain to fall behind our neighbors in military might. Peace Through Strength should be our rallying cry. We have yet to develop a reasonable offensive capacity and we still need to develop a mobile response force using horses. These two things must be done.
However, we have a sizeable amount of land that needs to be settled, and we are still very short on workers. These things must also be adressed.
Here is what I see for Spain:
Madrid and Saragossa will be our primary military cities.
Madrid -- After the barracks are done (they are next in queue after spearman, will start in 2 turns) we will then determine how many turns away iron is and how much gold we will have. These two factors will tell us how many vet warriors Madrid will build. If there is any gold to spare, we will then upgrade a few of our current warrior divisions. If there is more turns than gold for upgrades, we will build horsemen once the # of upgradeable warriors is done.
Once the upgrade is done, Madrid will build swords and horsemen and potentially more settlers and spears. I will leave this decision up to the governor.
Saragossa -- A temple and barracks need to be built immediately, after that horsemen and swordsmen. I ask that the new governor decide if he wants to finish the spearman in Saragossa first, or if he wants to switch, and if so, to what. Saragossa will also receive the services of a worker who will build several mines to assist with military production.
Santiago -- My brother is in charge of this border city and he informs me that he has executed many of the corrupt citizens but as a result, remarkably rushed into production a temple, which will help spread the influence of our Spanish culture on the border and protect us from the heathen Muslim culture. Work continues on the city walls that were previously being built. If the citizens remain unproductive he may execute a few more to rush that project as well. After that, a worker or two shall be produced to increase production.
Pamplona -- Senor Ruby_Maser, an excellent governor, shall see to it that this great city continues to produce many more settlers to grow our nation. Once settlers for our "Iron City" are made, the next city to be created shall be build along side the flood plains in the center of the Valley. This news city's abundant food source should allow it to quickly grow (with proper irrigation) and serve to assist Pamplona by making settlers and workers for future sites. Pamplona will also need to build a temple at some point.
Barcelona -- A slow growing city, which we shall improve via irrigation. It needs to grow to sufficient strength so that it can create workers and settlers for the Great South West, and I ask it's governor to see to it that Barcelona grows rapidly. Barcelona will not be required to create any futher military units, it's purpose will be to become productive for future settlements, culture, and growth.
