I am sure that this will not be well received, but the Iron road project includes a lot of precious worker movement wastage. Astrologix and ruby_maser trapse all the way across the continent to chip in on the mountain itself. 6 turns of movement for each unit 5 of which are not productive. That's 10 worker turns up in smoke. And it results in most of our workers way off in the west and will most likely need to trapse back.
Since we will be in a defensive posture for some time, and horsies are really very nice rapid response units, do we really need to waste 10 worker movement turns here? I think Pamplona could use some tile work more.
It's no big deal to me, as I will plan whatever you want and the decision fork occurs in turn 70 which is quite a ways off. Consider mining Pamplona tile#2 on the way with one of the workers. It delays Iron 2 turns, but develops Pamplona #2 and leaves our workforce better distributed for future tasks.

Roadcage, it's not a matter of efficiency. It's a matter of timing. We've had this kind of discussions several times in past turns, and we end always delaying the conenction to the iron to make it "more efficient". When the Neu Daemons attack us don't say I didn't warned you...Specially now that Lux has disapeared from this continent!
We are not playing in a perfect little box. We have to take other teams in consideration, try to advance to their movements and be ready for the worst.Last edited by OliverFA; February 26, 2003, 06:01."Never trust a man who puts your profit before his own profit." - Grand Nagus Zek, Star Trek Deep Space Nine, episode 11

Sergeant Skiff, status reports!
-Uh...yes sir, we lost many men, and even more are wounded, but we killed off most of their soldiers, dispersed the women and children and burned the village.
Gold, Dammit! How many times must I insist that you prioritize! How much gold did we find!?
-ouch, well around 25 spanish pieces when we've refined it properly, agh...
Stop moaning, it's not like you're hurt or anything, oh, er...Sergeant, you're bleeding.
-yes sir, i took a spiked club to the ribs, noth...hing to worry about.
Hmmm, we should have healers with us on these expeditions...
Oh well we'll just have to STAY here until we're up to strength. See if you can recruit some of the young men from the village we dispersed, with the proper incentives they can perhaps become loyal to Spain.Diplogamer formerly known as LzPrst

A marathon runner arrives at the burnt out village:
Señor Skiff... I am a... messenger from GuObs. *pant*
We... are covering... your way back to... Saragossa, sire.
*Taking a break, wiping sweat off the forehead*
It's safe for you to go to the healers house in town.
Thank god you got rid of them white-diper-wearers.
It was starting to stink really bad in these areas.
They never change their dipers you know...My words are backed with hard coconuts.

Capitan Nuñez: No need for that. We can heal perfectly well here, unless of course we're needed up there. And saragossa is a long way off. I thought there was going to be built a city not far from here...
Sergeant Skiff: uh...yes sir, the architects named it santiago... its about three marches from here.
Cpt Nuñez: Three marches!? In that case we can stay here and heal!
Sgt Skiff: but sir, the men are anxious to split the plunder and, have some fun.
Private Manuel:Si! I haven' seen a pretty woman in decades! I heard that settler girls are really pretty, and easy
*captitan smacks manuel with a dead trout*
Cpt N: You should have more respect for women. We are not thugs, we are a warrior unit and we will follow a code of honor, and we'll call it...ki, giva, valk, rikavli... I'll think of something, now begone, I need some privacy.
By the way, Skiff, you've earned a promotion, you're hereby Liuetan, luiet, laiuten, oh for spirits sake!
Ltn Skiff: Lieutenant, sir!? Thank you sir.
Cpt N: Whatever, now tell these halfdead jokers to march NORTHEAST, towards Santiago!
*Skiff and manuel leave*
Cpt N to himself: I have my own wounds to attend to...Diplogamer formerly known as LzPrst

I am on lunch break. Will be back in court soon. If anyone will be online in 1-2 hours let's do the turn via turnchat when I return. Please post here if you can play the save. I only have 1 more case to resolve, so I should be free around 2:00-2:30 my time.

Played the turn for Togas, while we were both online. He's posted the screenshots on his Spain Page. I'll provide a full report shortly.

Looking at the Spain Page maps, Visigoth moved w,s instead of w,sw as Oliverfa ordered. Both paths are same # of tiles to Iron Mountain, so I guess there is no real difference. The planning wb will be revised to suit.

why is there no garrison in Pamplona or Barcelona?
and Pamplona especially because it will send the city into disorder
[edit]: I assume building the spear will cover the city... or I assume someone else assumed thatHope y'all are right...
