  • Pamplona forecast: Spear/Spear/Settler/Temple?

I'm back from out of town. The wedding was lovely No time for assessing the gold netted per turn as it is late, but as requested, New Forecast for Pamplona: Spear/Spear 2/Settler/Temple? I may look at other options tomorrow. Feedback is encouraged...

    Year / Size / Queue / Shields / Food / Notes

    1550.....3.....Spear.........4.........9.......

1300.....5.....Settler........0.........0........C ity grows; not a problem with garrison of 2 and completion of road to Santiago to net the silks... Spear 2 done; begin Settler

1050.....4........."............24.......12......Road to iron complete; Iron City founded
    1025.....4........."............29.......16......
1000.....5.....Next?.........0.........0.......Cit y grows; Temple done; begin next queue

The timing of the temple will put the city capable of maintaining size 6 without disorder provided a garrison of two and one luxury with it, but this is still a ways off. A larger city means more money, more production per turn.

Anyone with a good eye, please post whether or not this time table will put the Settler in a position to found Iron City around the completion of the roading of the iron.

    WF notes:

Size 3: WF #2, #7, #8 (This one is important because the computer will automatically exchange #2 for #6 if the WFs are not micromanaged. My way maintains the same shield output but also maximizes growth.)

    Size 4: WF #2, #6, #7, #8

Size 5: WF #2, #3, #6, #7, #8 (Once the border expandes, we will get better options for this size and the Temple will help us do so)

Hmm, someone else can do the number crunching if you wanna have an estimated turn.

But I can give you an advice:
Let the other cities build some of the mil.units and let Pamplona pop out as many settlers as possible, and also have them build a Temple. We can build up the great Spanish army in Madrid, more or less... Pamplonas role can be the SEX-factory while we build the army.
My words are backed with hard coconuts.

      Thanks for the advice

I'm just doing what I was asked to do. I would prefer to REX like mad, but I will also stress (for the sole purpose of seeing those pretty letters on the screen) that Pamplona cannot REX alone if we hope to settle this continent.

Anyway... back on topic, from looking at Roadcage's plan for roading the Iron, I would say that the Settler is well timed to found the city in sync with the completion of the road. Unless I am wrong and if the Settler follows the road network that the workers put in place, the city should be founded in 1075 BC (turn 78), exactly the same turn that the road is completed.

2nd spear delays Iron City Settler slightly beyond the road gang completion. Suggest:

        Spear, Settler, something
I used to be a builder. That was before I played Civ III

roadcage, could you please explain. According to the information you posted, the iron will be available on turn 78 (1075 BC). If the settler leaves Pamplona in 1175 BC and follows the road network that the workers will build, it will found the city on the very same turn.

          What is incorrect?

Señor Leon, I have include the date that Iron City should be founded and the road completed in red. This is based on the Settler leaving Pamplona in 1175 BC and using the road network to the iron resource (with its movement rate of 3 per turn) and setting up the city on the shielded grassland southwest of Iron Mountain.
