    [OOC]

We discussed this before, but here it goes again.

We each need to decide which city (and thus region) we live in. Not all of us should be in Madrid!

This could be important when we get to play under monarchy and republic, as regions could be critically important.

For your information, here are what I'm guessing would be the regions so far:

    Region: Castile
    Capital: Madrid
    Coat of Arms:

    Region: Navarre
    Capital: Pamplona
    Coat of Arms:

    Region: Catalonia
    Capital: Barcelona
    Coat of Arms:

In the near future, we can establish the following cities:

Valladolid (Castile - inland and needs to be near Madrid)
Salamanca (Castile - inland and needs to be near Madrid)
    Saragossa (Aragon - inland)
    Bilbao (Basque - west coast)
    Leon (Leon - inland)
    Oviedo (Asturias - west coast)
Santiago (Galicia - far west coast)
La Coruna (Galicia - far west coast)
    Lisbon (Portugal - southwest?)
    Porto (Portugal - southwest?)
Toledo (Castile - southwest of Madrid?)
Valencia (Valencia - down the coast for Barcelona)
Murcia (Murcia - down the coast from Valencia)
    Malaga (Andalucia - southern coast)
    Grenada (Andalucia - south)
    Cordoba (Andalucia - south)
    Seville (Andalucia - south)
    Cadiz (Andalucia - southern coast)

I have the coats of arms for those regions as well.

    Just an idea...

If you read the original character bios, you will find the Dejon family came to Madrid from Aragon. It is not unlikely that we will return to that land if a great Spanish city is built there.

I'm staying in Madrid until the end. Actually, I might move when Cadiz is built. Such a small town, so far away from the capital, so easily able to gain and retain absolute power over the citizens all while reporting "everything's good" to Madr--wait. You heard nothing.

Could you take the current map of Spanish territory and draw out some proposed boundaries for the regions?

Many of my Family live in many Regions and we often Wonder about from city to city, entertaining the population.

Some Day, one of us will be taking up full roots in our cities, but not for a while. Personally, I have my main base in Madrid and my brothers have gone to Pamplona & Barcelona.

                Togas,

As for that regions map you requested... this is just an initial (bad-looking) version (since we're still working out the city locations, it's good enough for now ).

Now, IDEALLY, we'd move the capital to Pamplona, rename it Madrid, and move all the regions around to there real-life positions... but that may not be possible for a LOOOOONG time and by then we probably don't want to re-name all of the regions anyway

Excellent work. I highly suggest, however, that instead of Regions, we call them Provinces, which is more accurate. Therefore, the governor of each region would thus be the Provincial Governor. I also suggest that there must be a stipulation that the Governor is to raise a moderately sized force of defensive or offensive troops, in case of war time, so that a standing army is always ready for action.

The Calamarquists come from the north and northwest, as you know. Surely you know of the once large territory of the Calamari up north in the Ghernicus Peak/Squidimark Region. It is there that we fished for squids, and made our fortune. The family thus has roots mostly in Castile and the land of the Basques, but also in Aragon, and a large bunch in Galicia. Indeed, my cousin Bubba (short for Bubasticus), the blacksheep of the family, still maintains his own squid ranch there...He's just an ignorant hillbilly...

History Guy, great way to fluff up our titles (Provincial Governor instead of Regional Governor, it does actually sound more dignified )
