I expressed some reservations against waiting 5 turns to pop these tantalizing goodie huts to our Lord Togas in a chat, and he asked me to explain them here.

With an ND Scout having been recently in the area, we should be mindful that a 2 movement unit can slip around many eyes under the FoW undetected.

What are the odds of getting a Settler anyways? Do we really want to stall our units, that could be exploring further, or returning to garrison cities to improve REX, for the slim odds of getting a settler? Those 5 turns could represent more production and/or growth for Madrid, Pamplona, or Barcelona in the crucial turns ahead.

    By popping them now:
At the worst, we'd be releasing barbarians earlier, but both cities are defended. At best, we could get a Tech (Writing, Iron Working, Mysticism, Mathematics, Horse Riding) and really get an edge in the tech trading on this continent.

There is a Glory of War unit directly North of TEG at the start of this turn (2510BC). I think it would be great if we could free up some of our warriors to fortify along the jungle edge, saying to ND and GoW : Go No Further, this is our land. 5 turns would also make a difference with how quickly we could do that.

Anyways, that's my 2 squid on the matter.

Togas will be home from work and play the 2510 BC turn in a short while.

    ugh.. still with the squid?

ive always thought that we should pop asap. the odds of a settler arent good enough to risk someone else popping the hut, and we can get many things sooner rather than later that will do as just as much good.

    so POP!

Well, there is no harm to waiting 1 turn to poping that one hut, IMHO. It will be 3 turns before Barcelona is built (2 turns to move, 3rd to build). THe Warrior can move to the wheat tile (2 turns) and then pop the hut after the City is built on the third turn. Pamplona can have some thing other than a settler in it's build Queue and the change back after the Hut is poped.

It only delays one Warriors movement for 1 turn, It won't hurt us.
