  • Spearman factory

I know we are not gonna have a problem spitting out settlers with Madrid and Pamplona, but it is 2670 BC and our second city doesn't even have a garrison of veteran spearman.

ND definitely know about Pamplona; their scout passed through our territory, and they might have noticed Madrid since they skirted its border on a mountain top.

What does this tell them if we are leaving our cities undefended? Will they pass this information on to other teams?

I know our armies are larger than some, comparable to others, but at least three of them that I can think of off hand are 10-15 turns from home minimum and they are all warriors.

What are peoples thoughts/concerns about this? We need a barracks in a city that can be a factory for veteran units (offensive and defensive), but which city? The third one? Should one of our two great cities start thinking more about defense than REX?

ND will assume that the spearman they saw moving from Madrid towards Pamplona was supposed to be a permanent garrison. Furthermore, they were never close enough to our cities to see if we had a garrison. If they check the mil advisor and see that we're equally strong as them but only have 2 cities, they're going to assume we're rabidly protecting our cities. They have no idea that our army is actually made up of goodie hut conscript warriors.

They probably think that we sent that garrison to Pamplona to protect it because we fear they might come attack us.

Later on, we will need a military city but at this point it's too early to assign such a task to either Madrid or Pamplona. Frankly, I wish there were some barbarians out there so that we could get our conscripts a little experience, but it's starting to seem very unlikely. Does anyone know when we should have expected to see Barbarians?

We need to some killin' practice.

We must built enough military units to be average compared to ND, including one spearman for each settler. This is the absolute minimum. ND is VERY close.

I agree with DAVOUT. And yes, we need some killing practice, but everyone can learn to wield a spear at the training field.

I am playing three other PBEM games. In one of them , I've seen the first babarians in about 2470 BC. We are not far from this moment...

I am sure barbarians shall arise soon, for they are great in number, though they hide as the fox, blending in with nature. Some are possessed by dark spirits that make them invisible, so I hear. We must be on our guard. But yes, when they are sighted, we shall destroy them. Our soldiers need to learn how to fight.

I agree with the Watcher, Milord. We need troops defending our cities and city sites. Neu Demogyptica is very close...too close in my opinion. Furthermore, I trust them not, nor do I trust any others on earth. However, they are the most immediate concern. They are large, empire builders if you will. They will certainly be looking for a fight in a few centuries, most undoubtedly they will have one come Chivalry. Let us hope they see Lux Invicta and the Glory of War as the most dominate threat at first, so that we may grow our own power while they fight hard.
