  • So about the second cow in Pamplona...

    Irrigate or mine?

Personally my opinion is irrigate. I think that Pamplona has enough other lands who can be irrigated and where it can get his production from, but I'd like to hear the opinion of the Spanish nobles about it, specially the opinion from Pamplona's Governor, señor Ruby_Maser.

I would like to mine the second cow, in order to give Pamplona a greater productivity. Otherwise (irrigating) I would see Pamplona to reach the 4 pop before producing the first settler.

I would like have a fine analysis from Señor Ruby_Maser giving the time line of Pamplona productions/growth under the several cases (irrigating vs. mining)

            From the Pamplona thread:

With one cow producing 4 food, another producing 3, and a flood plain to the south with the potential for 3 when irrigated, I was able to push the city to size 5 and still have growth within 4 turns. I see growth a secondary issue to shield production. Corruption will take a bite out of this city's shields and maximizing that will be prove more difficult early on. Later, when our labor force has less priorities and mining mountains is not prohibitive, it could always be revised to produce more food.
This looks like a valid reason for me. Since it is probable that Pamplona would expent several turns being size 2 and eventually come back after poping some settlers or workers, it is desirable to have an equilibrium between food and production while in size 2. So, go for that mining.
