  • 2670 BC (?) Pre-turn orders

    Thought I'd go ahead and make this thread since I had a request for Pamplona.

    Pamplona should reach size 2 this turn, could the person who does the turn please check to see that it is working both cow bonuses.

    Next turn, I will ask one to be changed to the forest tile to speedthe completion of the spearman, but this turn will not speed the date due to the current number of shields, so we might as well have the food for growth. On a side note, I understand Governor Arnelos is utilizing his shield-producing tiles instead of the wheat, you might make sure it doesn't switch back to the wheat on its own. I wouldn't want the game's antics slowing us down.

    Other than that, if barbarians come out of the goody hut, save the slaves!

      Save just arrived in my inbox.

      I'm at work, as I usually am, but I have very little to do this morning so I'll be in the team chat room.

      As soon as Dejon or Arnelos is available, we'll do the turn via chat.

        Orders:

        warrior -> goodie hut. (have spearman cover Pamplona only if barbarians appear. If not, spearman EAST)

        workers road when finished.

        TEG -> South
        Magyars -> South-east
        Madrid -> West

        change production of Madrid back to Settler.

        check on production of Pamplona to make sure it's working both cows.

        Take usual screen shots, etc.

            2670 BC Report

            2670 BC Report

            Most tantalizing bit first...
            Pamplona Warrior moved W and popped Goodie Hut - and we got a new skilled (conscript) warrior

            TEG moved S - nothing new
            Madrid Expedition moved W - more ND border and some of their territory. They have spices (unconnected).
            Magyar Warriors moved S - more coastline - looks like the southern tip of this continent. Whale tail visible on edge of Fog.
            El Protector De Madrid (Madrid Spearman) moved E - headed back to Madrid

            New warrior moved SW on mountain, uncovering more of cow valley - flood plains, desert

            Madrid
            Q changed to back to Settler

            Pamplona
            Grew to size 2
            WF is on both cows

            Slider remains the same at 90% - Writing in 20 turns

            Military
            Compared to ND we are average.
            Compared to GoW and Lux we are strong.

              Sure a free warrior is nice, but man, why couldn't we have gotten a settler, a city, or a tech.

              Oh well, without it we are still in real good shape.

                  I noticed that the ND scout is near the Horses resource. If he uncovers it, perhaps ND will be tempted to settle there, preventing us to take it.
                  Can we trust ND not to settle to the south of the jungle ? Why not forming a "warriors wall" to protect our future border ?

                    From looking at the last screenshot, something else I can tell about the scout is that they used our territory to speed up their scout's movement

                    This is a serious breach of etiquette IMO. I don't trust that they couldn't see the goodie hut anyway. For all we know they were going for it, and decided to use our land to get there.

                    They want to talk about confirmation of friendship after GoW told them we were trying to allign ourselves against ND; then, they go and do something like that. Yeah, yeah... I know they wouldn't have done it if they had had to wait a turn in our territory, but it doesn't make it any less wrong. Would we do this to them? If not, then we need to re-assess of the nature of our relationship with them.

                      If we switched Pampolona's current build from spearman to a Settler, how long will it take for it to be completed, with differnet WF assignments? THe Pampolna Screenshot isn't complete and I can't get a good feel for it's shields/build.

                      We need to get that settler to the Horse site ASAP.

                        Señor Tamali, I'm at work right now. I am planning on running through some scenarioes this evening anyway and posting several options for how to manage Pamplona.

                        I hadn't planned to switch production to settler, but I will look at that as well and report back.

                          Yes, they obviously went W through Pamplona tile #1. However, if they had been after the hut, they would have continued on W. I suspect that they had intended to go W, W. But then upon seeing the hut, with our warrior right next to it, they swerved NW. They may have done this to avoid a possible barbarian release, or perhaps to send us a signal that they weren't after our hut, but were just exploring. I am not going to get my knickers in a knot that they moved through our land though - as long as they didn't end the turn in our land.

                            Sorry, that image got cut off because I ran out of space on that web account. I've cleared a bit of room and re-transferred the file. I'll set up the web space of one of my other accounts for future screenshots, so it shouldn't happen again for awhile.

                              what's a knicker?

                              Where does it end though? Would you have problem with it if it was a 2-move military unit?

                              I don't know. I think it would have been far wiser and more respectful to consider how we felt and make a concerted effort to avoid upsetting us then to assume it wouldn't bother us.

                              I'll laugh about it when we are razing their capital though
