We need a name for the Warrior Group from Pamplona and for the Spearmen that have come from Madrid to defend Pamplona just in case some barbarians attack.

I also need a new Governor to step forward who can begin to plan and lead our next group of settlers from Madrid, however, that person should probably post in the Map Room.

I suggest, until we find more spanish names :
Sequential number + originating city + type of unit

That would make 1st Pamplona Warriors (1st PW or 1PW), and 1st Madrid Spearmen (1st MS or 1MS).

Ugh, how boring.

How about simply taking turns naming things? We could create a Naming thread where everyone is asked to post ONCE, and the order would simply be first come, first name. Everyone would be encouraged to keep their suggestions up to date. If someone doesn't have a name for a unit, we move on to the next one.

Example post:

Upcoming Units (circa 2750 BC):
Warrior from Pamplona: Sons of Señor Maser
Spearman from Madrid: Madrid Guard
Settler from Madrid: Astrologix the Brave
Spearman from Pamplona: Pamplona Guard

I will not fight on this subject, I just observe that it will result in fantasy names not always pleasing to everybody, and that the order of battle will be confusing and time consuming. In addition it is not strictly respecting the discipline of roleplaying established by His Grace.

There is nothing to say we can’t do both. In fact, it is done all the time in RL.

We should name key units, or character units with special titles. But generic units should be named for their home city and named in sequence.

El Protector De Madrid means the Madrid Guard. Defensive Units could be referred to Protector, then their city, and then a number. The offensive units by their name

The first spearman from Madrid -
El Protector De Madrid 1

From Pamplona
El Protector De Pamplona 1

Archers from Pamplona would La Pamplona Archers 1.
Swordsman from Barcelona would be EspadachÃn De Barcelona 1
Horsemen from Madrid would be Jinetes De Madrid 1

The warriors is Guerrero in spanish. But we have treated the warriors different, so we should continue to name separately.
