  • OOC: Insight into GS and other things

As GS had a lot of "ringers" as part of thier team, I have beem trolling the Startegy forums for insights to their ways and means.

    1) most of them have played the "Aployton University" moded Senerios. See Apolyton University Main Link. See this post for links to the first of the AU's.

    2) most of them have won at the same Senerios

    3) most of them have come up with numberous stategies to win these Senerios.

As it would seem that GS is on another Contenent (maybe with Legoland), it is advantagious of us to take care of whom we have for now. IF Lego is on the same contenent as them, they will not last to the middle ages, unless the members of GS let them.

The AU is currently making a series of PTW senerios for testing the player's skills. The Apolyton University Mod (PTW version) thread has more information as to the specific senerios that they have played (and are trying out).

I highly recomend that as many of us download & play those senerios, to:

    1) improve our skills

    2) get a personal insight to the people who have set up and won those senerios

WARNING: some of the threads have spoilers in them, so if you are planning to play them and read the full threads, BEWARE!

The reason that I am posting this: I feel that the game will come down to GS & Us, sometime in the late Middle Ages

Oh, I also recomend that we DO NOT post in those threads. THe reason being, If they don't know what we know, then they can't anticipate us.

IF we can achieve a good territorial expansion and If we manage to become good diplomats, then we hsould be able to throw 2 or 3 nations over them in case we have a war... and I doubt they could withstand such.
As about Legoland, this only makes more necessary to contact ´em early, or else we will loose some good tech-trades...

        Good thinking E_T!
Do you have any suggestions for scenario's. I've hardly been at the strategy forum and I'll expect a lot of those scenario's. If we all play the same, we gain the same experience. Understanding each other will be easier then. Second: which scenario's are useful and which not?

If you have the time, it is good to troll the forums. I do this and have learned most of the stuff about GS from doing so.

I would recomend reading a couple of the threads that sound kinda interesting and that you think you already know a bit about. One I liked was the use of the explorers and the one about scouts. Both interesting. However E_T is right in that they all contain spoilers so if you decide to play a particular scenario, dont read the thread.

One thing to note, with the recent loss of their leader, notyoueither, I suspect that meshalic and sirRalph will come to the forfront. that means lots of war with lots of details being paid attention to. Our best strategy will be to keep them off balance and come up with off the wall things. They tend to plan ahead, and when they react they tend to do so with overwelming superiority.

An example: Assume we are in conflict with them or that they are planning on being in one with us soon. So if we send over only one boat with nothing but our conquistodores, plunder a few lux or resources, they will be screwed up for a while as they replan everything out. We must do the unexpected with them.

On a side note - I just played a game where I kept pilligang my own iron so I could make tons of warriors, then reconnect and upgrade them all to medival infantry got about 60 of them real fast, but not cheap. It worked like a charm. You see 2 columns of 30 infantry with muskateers guarding them and some knights on the flanks........ well this is the type of thing these people do. so plan on it.
