  • Trading Mini-maps

Yes, we are a Depotism at this time. Lord Togas has final say over our decisions. However, I thought he might like to see "how the wind is blowing" on this issue.

Option 1: No trading of mini-maps

    Option 2: Trade current mini-maps

    Option 3: Trade initial mini-maps (4000BC)

Option 4: Trade minimap with a RP logo at our position

For samples of what these would look like, and some early discussion, see the OOC: Mini-Maps thread.

    ps. My first poll!
    15
    No trading of mini-maps
    26.67%
    4
    Trade current mini-maps
    26.67%
    4
    Trade initial mini-maps (4000BC)
    20.00%
    3
Trade minimap with a RP logo at our position
    26.67%
    4

    The poll is expired.

I've already offered to trade our mini-map.

We do not want to remain isolated. The longer we fail to meet and trade, the further behind we will be, AND the less contact we will have with the other nations.

Legoland is not going to invade us. They're not going to manipulate us to fight someone else. They owe us tech sales at a discount and have promised tech cooperation. It's in our best interest to find them NOW.

Our success as a nation will not hinge on how mysterious and unknown we are. Our success will be determined by how well we manage our relationships with other nations, how well WE play them against each other, and how well we plan and strategize. Information and intelligence are our keys to victory. Secrecy and Withdrawal are not.

I'm *this* close to posting our 4000 BC mini-map or the roleplay icon mini to the main forum and saying "Come meet us!" It'll surprise the hell out of all the other stoggy ultra-secret schemers out there, add to our civ-trust factor, and bring people to us sooner so that we have more trading partners and more possible allies.

Frankly, I'd like to see some debate on if we should take a more aggressive policy towards bringing the other nations to our door. But as for the issue of sharing our mini with Legoland, that's a done deal.

    --Togas

p.s. Honestly, I would prefer that we know where they are but they don't know where we are, but that's not going to happen. We're not an expansionist civ with scouts. We've got to give knowledge to get knowledge.

Let us make contact personaly with each civ, in hope of getting their minimaps too. I am in favor of trading 4000 BC minimaps with blue painted all over the terrain. Ah, that´s a nice idea the come meet us!

I like the idea of posting the symbol map on the main page. Whatever benifit it grants to other teams is minimal at best, and transitory in nature. It can also be to our benifit as they may not send to many scouts our way assuming we are already here, and therefore leave the goodie huts for us to get at our leasure.

I favour ruby_maser's excellent idea of the minimap with logo. Here's why:

          1) It conveys our location.
          2) It does not show the land we've explore, so it does not devalue our maps
          3) It does not reveal the nature of our surrounding terrain (mountains, coastline)
          4) It is harmless enough to post in the general forum or to trade to anyone, with worrying who they give it to subsequently.

I say, we trade the full mini map so we can get the full mini map. We have met no other nations. Legoland and others may have. Their mini maps will show us if they have seen other civ's cities. Thus, we may get two civ's locations for the cost of one....get what I mean?

I voted for the 4000BC, but I think that Togas' Idea of posting the 4000BC mini in the open Forum is great. I say, post that one and trade the current one.

This way, we are open to everybody and if someone doesn't want to play (because we have already shown where we are), they will be on out not so trustworthy list.

[EDIT] we should do it ASAP, so that we don't show anymore than for this current turn. Also, trade the map for the turn that everybody has completed, not a 1/2 done turn (still circulating)

Personally, I think we should trade mini-maps, but all trades should be bi-lateral.

I support this idea. Can have only positive consequences.

I think we should trade mini-map for mini-map, both initial or both current. They simply show our basic area not resource placement.

This is a really good idea. Probably they will try to go directly to meet us instead of wandering, and the huts would be left for us.

Also, it shows us a a careless tribe. Lot of people seem to think we are not dangerous, and this would enforce that feeling.

The logo idea is a good one. However, I don't like trading full mini-maps, and the reason is because it might fall into the wrong hands. If Vox Controli gets it, we are in trouble. If Glory of War gets it, we are in serious trouble.
