  • IMPORTANT - Intercepted Message

(The details of how I saw this is in the Diplomacy Thread)

Your Excellency, Togas the Great, Despot of Iberia

I, Your Most Humble and Obedient Servant, Hernan de History Guy Calamari II, report that on my diplomatic duties I intercepted a diplomatic message from one Senor Unorthodox of China, which is also known as the Glory of War.

In this message, he complains of the endless waves he sees every day outside his native city of Atlantis. He says that perhaps his civilization should be better known as Glory of Waves (obviously an incredible play on words) for being located on one little island.

Obviously, this message is of the utmost importance.

    Your Humble Servant,
Hernan de History Guy Calamari II
    Diplomat
    Empire growing,
    Pleasures flowing,
Fortune smiles and so should you.

I've heard someone from their team saying something similar in the outside forums. I think it is disinformation, especially because I don't know if I've ever had a starting location where I could immediately discern I was on that small of a landmass.
"The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country." -- Abraham Lincoln

"Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever, in flesh and blood, walked upon this earth." -- Albert Einstein, in regards to Mohandis Gandhi

I believe so too. It is seemingly thinly disguised disinformation, and written by a man noted for being a journalist, an editor of newspapers. Newspapers are merely another medium for propaganda, and propaganda this appears to be. It is more of a note that while we are being honest in our descriptions, everyone else is playing the obvious deceiving game. It seems to me that it would be a better situation to allow them to thing that we are lying by telling them the truth. Information which they believe to be disinformation, if you will.

I was thinking in what would they benefit by lying about this...
        I got into this;
They want all nations (that may be their future frontiers) to keep their guard down....
        So we must not fall

I've asked this several times before, and I'll ask it again: (still no answer )
Will the Map Genarator place you on such a disaster of a landmass that it would be so small? I.e., a 2-tile desert island, and the Romans landed on it or something? Is that possible?
          [/ooc]

This is probably disinformation. However, it might be inspired from information, that of being near a sea/ocean. We need not to immediately ignore all of our rivals' messages, but we do need to take all that they say and carefully analyze it.

          Unortho: Hey guys
Nuclearius: Hrm. He implies that there are not any women in Spain.
Hernan: No!!! He means to say "To hell with you guys," for if you translate it through all of the world's languages and back to English then Spanish it is that backwards!
          Togas: Quit fooling around.
Ruby_Maser(?): Dnuora gniloof tiuq. I can't get anything from that. Maybe it's Russian, here, let me translate it to English.

It was a joke, warning not to dig too deeply into what anyone said. It just resembles a series of posts...sheesh. Don't over-analyze it.

(If you need any more help, ask...somehow I think that did not do enough explaining... )

It must be disinformation. And yet, I think it means they probably founded their city near some body of water.

Well...perhaps. These Chinese obviously want to destroy everyone, and so a campaign of disinformation from the start might be a good idea. Perhaps we should have adopted similar plans.

I saw a similar post by one of their people, talking about an abundance of fish,

I agree no need to put our guard down. If they are on an island, great, otherwise, we are ready for them.

I agree with ruby, it seems too early for them to know they are on island anyway. I doubt they would get on such a small island at random.

I doubt they are on an island (or know that they are on an island to be more precise) but I have seen the game start civs on tiny islands so it is possible.

It seems to me then that they must be on a coastline, but as for an island, this is surely their own propaganda.
