  • [OOC] How to introduce successor?

[OOC] OK, I’ve got the next generation Pikesfan waiting in the wings. Is there some special way I’m supposed to do it? Do I introduce myself? Do I describe myself coming into town? Am I supposed to be creating a precedent here?

I know! I’ll pretend to be the undercook describing Pikesfan II coming in! [/OOC]

I've been wondering about this as well. We just jumped 50 years in game time - we're ALL dead. I have a succession plan ready with my plethora of sons , but are we prepared to this all the time? Or shall I just continue to be Señor dejon, with the assumption that everyone realizes that it is the son, grandson, great-grandson, etc, of the original character?

      [OOC]

Personally, I think it would be positively annoying for us to keep drudging up new characters every stupid turn for the first several thousand years... we're simply gonig to have to take some liberties with the timeline. Our only rule is that "new" characters must wait a full week (REAL time) before they can participate in any coup. It wouldn't be terribly unreasonable for us, just for simplicity, to keep characters for even a thousand years at first before retiring them in order to save ourselves the trouble of having a new one every single week...

That way, when a character is killed, it actually MEANS SOMETHING (as opposed to be effectively meaningless because everyone's characters are dying every other minute anyhow).

We can always justify this in the same terms that the Bible has a list of "historical forefathers" who lived hundreds of years each. However, I honestly don't feel we need to justify it, just overlook it.

        [OOC]

As far as my logic goes...

a new character name isnt TOTALLY neccesary for every 500 years

it is possible that two men have the same name during that time period.

Perhaps we should have two characters for each era?
          Empire growing,
          Pleasures flowing,
Fortune smiles and so should you.

[OOC] A week? You mean I have to wait 1000 years game time before I can introduce my next character? I shouldn’t have killed myself off then Too bad, I’m having such fun being dead ROFL laughing at the latest developments. It’s better than Beverly Hills 90120, not that I ever watched it anyway.

Actually, that makes it easier for my annals. Togas doesn’t have to think up names every second. I shall just have to watch the game turn and if there is too much time between reigns, I can introduce new names to fill in the gap.
