  • name that river

I suggest we consider naming the features in our immediate vicinity now.... the river, the sea, whatever needs to be named. I'm drawing a blank so I will yield the floor to anyone with a suggestion to make.

    Anyone?

River: The Var, the ancient name for the most strategically important of Spanish rivers.

    Sea: Mare Iberian, of course.
    Empire growing,
    Pleasures flowing,
Fortune smiles and so should you.

The river near Madrid in real life is the Tajo.

I call it the River Togas...it would get pretty confusing if we named everything after Grand Despot Togas

How about the River Madrid? Or the River Spam? El River? Something. I don't really care, "SW River" is fine for me until it is decided.

FYI, in fact, the (small) river near Madrid is called "Manzanares".

The river Tajo is about 50-75 km from Madrid, near the town of Toledo.

I called it the River Gualdalquivir in my chronicals.......

It is a real river in spain, and is hard to pronounce if you have no spanish so the other teams when they hear it will get (i hope) tongue tied and confused.

Since I lived in Madrid when I was a young man, I know very well this area of Spain. In fact, I do speak the Spanish language fluently.

I found that our starting location is quite like the real surroundings of Madrid, excepted the sea, of course.

Thus, I propose you the following names for the surroundings of our great capital.

Of course, all can be discussed. Don't hesitate to reject this proposal, or proposing other names. It's just a beginning
