  • [OOC]Meeting place

It was discussed yesterday on the mIRC chat if we should always meet there. We have agreed to post this as a quasi-official statement,of course requiring the ratification of our great leader Togas to be official. If this is aproved, the following shall be valid:

All meeting for dicussing game-related topics shall be made on mIRC channel #civ3rp Migros ,being Migros the password. This channel is under Apolyton.net . The meeting must be announced beforehand, and its time must be informed in GMT. In the absence of Our Leader, He must appoint his representant for that day.
The meetings shall be opened to the whole team, with excessions openable by His Grace or His representants.

This can only be changed in case of a serious problem that stops the members from accesing the forum.

    Now about technical issues:

    To use mIRC you must
    1) Go to www.mirc.com, download mIRC if you dont have it, and install it
2)Open it and click on the options button (second in the File menu)
    3) click on "Add" button
    4) enter the following in the fields
    Description: Apolyton
    IRC Server: apolyton.net
    Port: 6667
    and then click on "Add"
    4) Fill in the fields: Real Name, E-mail, Nickname, Alternate(in case the first nick is taken) and press "Connect!"
    5) mIRC will connect you to the server and the Channels Folder will appear. Type #civ3rp Migros, press "Add" to store it (password shall be Migros), and then press "Join".
It may look hard, but even I managed to use it, and I had never used mIRC.

I would like to make a request that it not be on apolyton, but instead either undernet, dalnet, or some other system.

I cannot get mIRC to connect with apolyton.net. Therefore, when I connected last night, I had to use the java chat on poly. This meant that I could not look at the save as there is a compatibility issue in that when Civ3 is running, the java will not funcition.

Also, I can not keep a log or other nice functions that are available with mIRC. This is not a real problem for me unless I have to look at a save for some reason. If so, then I cannot be chatting at the same time.

Why can´t you connect via Apolyton.net? Yesterday we tried undernet and dalnet but both failed. Aplyton.net was the one that worked best for us all,so if you could explain your problem and we could fix it it would spare us a helluvalot of trouble.

I can't do Apolyotn.net through Trillian, though I'm gonna search for other solutions to that problem now... I have no trouble getting through via IRC.

GodKing, if you can find the thread, I believe someone (Ghengis?) in SP C3DG was able to connect once he changed which port he was using in mIRC. I'm off to go try that for Trillian now...

Just f or anyone's information... I accidentally set the password wrong () for a little while tonight. As such, if you couldn't get in, that was probably the cause. (Very sorry ). I'm going to see if registering the channel with ChanServ makes the password option sticky at some point, but I want to see that Togas doesn't want to register the channel himself first, since he is da big boss .

Mark G looked into the problem I have, and was unable to make it work.

mIRC for me will not connect to apolyton.net. We were not able to figure out why. We changed the settings from 6667 to 7000, and that did not help. We worked on several things (actually, several people have this same problem, so mark G was working will the group, not just me).

If I use the Java chat from the poly chat room, I can join. But I do not have the functionality of mIRC (such as log keeping). Also, there is a compatibility issue in that if Civ3 is running, the java chat will not function correct. So, I cannot run both. If at some time Togas assigns me duties that require I be able to communicate (such as Military advisor) while looking at a save for someone else to play the "real" game, it cannot occur.

I do not know why I have these problems. The only thing that appeared to be common among the others that had it is that they all had anthalon processors running microsoft millenium. However, several people have the same similar systems and don't have this problem.

My request is not urgent, but it will help me keep options open if I am needed.

                Thanks. GK

Ok, we can set up another room, but let´s give MArkG a time to find the solution out , cause this is such a small and beautifull room!

I'm currently in the chatroom (alone). Password (for now) is "migros" (w/o quotes and all lower-case). I'm AFK there at the moment since I'm reading stuff here, but anyone around come on in.

Could anyone say how we'll do to play our turns ?

Is the save currently by Togas ?

Can we have a look on this save ?

Will the save be posted here ?

                            I have the save

When I got back to my office today I found the save in my email inbox.

I will be at the office until 9pm EST, so if someone wants to do the moves for me this turn, please post here or PM me.

                            ORDERS:

The ONLY order we need to do is to give the worker orders. We should irrigate the square the worker is on. If for some reason that is not possible, build a road on that square.

There are no other changes or orders.

Please exit, save the game, email it back to me AND email it to the next team.

Vox wants us to check to see who's online, and send it to one of them. Be sure to PM that person to verify that he's going to play it.

I'm ready to play the turn now.
IIRC, we left the science slider to 50% last time because we wanted to let you, oh Great Leader, decide how much money we should dedicate to science. So should the slider still be set to 50%?
