    THE STONE OF SPAIN
Volume II - Somewhere in the prehistoric age
This newspaper will be published at irregular intervals

    INTERNAL AFFAIRS

    TOGAS SUMMARIZES HIS GOALS
In a recent public debate on how to manage our slaves, Togas revealed his goals. They are:

    - Feed the people of Madrid so that our population can quickly grow.
    - Increase Madrid's production.
    - Bring luxuries to the people.
    - Connect our cities and pave the way for rapid expansion.

This shows Togas has the best in mind for us, the people of the Spanish tribe. These plans also indicate we are moving to a much higher level than our surrounding barbaric tribes. Arnelos and Ninot, both highly ranked people in our tribe, prefer to prioritize production above the other goals. Togas has not yet made his wise judgment after the responses made by his advisors.

SQUIDS! Our honourable forefathers used to eat them - you should, too. Be a warrior, eat SQUIDS.

    FOREIGN AFFAIRS

UNKNOWN ENEMIES MAY BE SPYING ON US
MrWhereItsAt warned us that it is not unthinkable that enemies who are still unknown to us might be spying on our doings. These enemies are probably just as advanced as us, since they have such advanced reconaissance techniques. We know virtually nothing about the foreign foes, yet. The Stone of Spain will keep you updated on this subject, as always.

    ECONOMICS

CACTUS BREAKS SQUID MONOPOLY; SQUID STILL NUMBER ONE DISH IN SPAIN
Do you remember those days when we ate beef, pork and other barbaric dishes? A while ago Hernan "emperor of squids" de History Guy Calamari managed to stop this barbaric way of living and introduced to our tribe the wonders of the squid. It (rightly) gained a monopoly position on the food market.

However, just recently cacti broke this monopoly and is now on the menu of the Iberian Delight. Tavern owner Floris Olstorne had the interests of his customers in mind, as always, and decided that people should have a bit more variation on their menu. Squids, however, retain their number one position on the food market. The demand for squids has only risen more the past few days.

This newspaper is financed by the Iberian Delight corporation. This is a purely financial deal with no conflict of interests between either the Stone of Spain or the Iberian Delight corporation or the readers of this newspaper.

Good work. And, we are proud to announce that we are now, thanks largely to Senor Winterus (our new partner), raising wine-fed squid, bolstering the little fellows' population, and making them better tasting. Already, the buying has risen. People are now camping out outside the tavern to get these wonderful things for every meal!

        Even Togas loves 'em!

            Thanks for the positive feedback!

Since we haven't started the game yet, the newspaper is still very small.

Astrlogix, it may look strange for those of us who where not born on Spain, but this people have long time developed this sistem of using nice little drawings to mean thinks! it is very useful for business, as you can draw a small 1 for one pot on stock, and a 12 for twelve pots sold today. Intriguing, but easy. Just took me 5 years to learn it!

"[insert your god here], our paragon of inventors, the discover of an art is not the best judge of the good or harm which will accrue to those who practice it. So it is in this; you, who are the father of writing, have out of fondness for your offspring attributed to it quite the opposite of its real function. Those who acquire it will cease to exercise their memory and become forgetful; they will rely on writing to bring things to their rememberance by external signs instead of their own internal resources. What you have discovered is a remedy for recollection, not for memory. And as for wisdom, your pupils will have the reputation without the reality; they will receive a quantity of information without proper instructions, and in consequence, be thought very knowledgeable when they are for the most part quite ignorant. And because they are filled with the conceit of wisdom instead of real wisdom, they will be a burden to society." - Thamus

Beware the bewitching letters!!!! Beware these evil symbols!!!! I myself could not resist the temptation to do so. A very good read

                          Very nice work.

I may contribute some weekly stories, depending on how events in the actual game commence.

That assuming my storytelling muse comes back, the naughty girl that she is.

That would be great. I appreciate any contribution made by any team member. However, criticism of my tavern, this newspaper or myself will not be published. Criticism of our great leader Togas will be published so that the writer can be persecuted and hanged for treason!
