  • Time for our Public (Dis)information Campaign

Perhaps we should go ahead and establish someone to do our public (dis)information campaign.

I'm sure that members of the other teams would LOVE to hear about our internal squables and fights (the parts we can actually tell them about w/o compromising our interests). Showing how much internal fun we're having and publicizing this to the benefit of others COULD have the following benefitial results:

    1. Create sympathetic responses by people on other teams toward our team.
    2. Further get the idea in others' heads that we're spending much of our time concentrating on role-playing (rather than scheming grandiose evil plans to take them down )
    3. Perhaps even suggest that we're divided and squabling (although most of it for fun) rather than possessing anything even approaching well-thought game goals and/or a cohesive game or diplomacy doctrine.

The more they think we're spending all this time in here doing stuff like what's in our "Tribal Leaders" thread may distract them from thinking that we're spending most of our time on stuff that's in the "The Other Teams: An Assessment" and "Strategy" threads

The question is how, exactly, do we go about sanitizing what's said and happens in our role-play threads for public consumption? I assume this will take place under the auspices of the Supreme Leader.

To begin with, I think it would be productive to publish something of a sanitized account of DAVOUT's character (Gisgal?) accusing people of stuff and all of us making accusations and junk... perhaps the debate over the "Senator" status of History Guy... whatever helps to create the impression we want created

oh, and MarkG wants us to make NewZupdatez from the team... these, in our case, could possess more targeted (dis)information dealing with our internal "bickering".

      Good idea

before i state my idea, id like to state

i think our best bet is to always put our gameplan ahead of our internal RP bickering. We can have both, but we want to win now, dont we?

      now, as for the idea

lets publish a refined version of Davout's list, and make it seem like an accurate forecast for what is really happening!

Most of it cant be taken very seriously by us, but if we add to it, make up some false quotes... we can get this thing going.

I propose we immediately start an RP thread solely for the purpose to set some scandal in motion for publication.

Well, I think we have enough already to make for our first set of publications, but we could keep up at doing stuff like this so we have a continuous source of material for future "reports"

Yes, but only if we want another team to declare war against us. Otherwise we could have some bad-timed surprises

I agree with the idea that we should disinformate all the other things as much as posible. But, sorry to disagree, I'm not very convinced about the way of doing that. I mean... Do you really believe that if we publish something in a public thread the other teams will believe everything they read? After all, they are not so innocent...

But yes, maybe an "intelligence agency" (depending of the foreign office maybe?) would be a very good idea.

By the way, if we are going to disinformate the other teams, then we should give a greater quantity of "right info" to our allies (if any) to make them belive we really trust them...

I agree it's a very good idea. If you look at the posts from the other teams in the public forums, they don't know anything about us except the roleplay thing. We are currently the most enigmatic team, and we must keep this advantage. Posting funny stuff about internal plots is just a way to avoid publishing informations about our real strategy or personnality. Just one word :

                I agree.

                SCANDAL IDEAS:

-Togas is killing off the entire population
-Togas is battling coup after coup
                -Togas has commited character suicide
-(any of the members have done the above)
                -Everyone ferociously hates each other
-The Empire is split between two groups
                will post more soon

I like the idea of Togas battling off coup after coup

if the other teams think none of our organization is solid and everyone wants to be leader, they will underestimate us

I like the idea of publishing that I'm fighting against internal plots and that the nation isn't entirely as peaceful and funloving as we've previously broadcasted.

Plus, when they think of a despot, they think of a dictatorial government where the citizens are abused and tyranically ruled over. We can also use that idea to our advantage.

However, the only thing I don't want to risk is the belief that our contacts and agrements aren't solid because our government is not stable.

I'll assure anyone who asks that our agreements will continue no matter WHO is despot, and should I resign or get killed, The new Despot will contact all the nations we know to announce his ascendancy and inform everyone that the previous agrements are still in effect.

Hopefully... this could very well be a roleplay excuse to break agrements made should we ever feel the need to do so. But I would caution against it.

I agree concerning new Despots should maintain agreements where possible. Our international reputation for honor will remain important, regardless of who is Despot.

That said, it's entirely possible that a despot or king (in the future) could be overthrown and the new despot/king didn't want to continue a certain agreement and cancelled it... that would be up to the new despot/king, including whether it would be wise to hurt our reputation in that manner.

So I'm not terribly worried about it.

Playing into this, perhaps we can create Political Parties. Like DIA and Hawks, and post phony election results, showing the Hawks getting beat badly everytime. And maybe some loud feuds between the Hawk leader and DIA leader.

We can call them Hawks & Doves or Cats & Mice, Rats and Cats and Elephants as sure as your born, and the lovliest of these is the unicorn....oops...I mean any names will do that show a rift of warmonger and builder and warmonger's being outnumbered.

I think a disinformation campaign is a great idea... if done sparingly.

The roleplay stuff may add sympathy to the idea that we are preoccupied, but I believe posting too much outside our forum will be will be suspicious. If we do have roleplay or disinformation going on outside, I believe we should consider having someone occassionally pointing out that this matter or that could have been handled privately.... just another way to hint at dissent within the group but also to allay suspicion that these things are a front.

The RolePlay Team informs the community.

                            NEWS FROM THE STAGE

From the Palace of the RolePlay Team :

The Supreme Leader is greatly satisfied to inform the tribe that his peace-and-love policy is now respected in most of the known world, and particularly in Rome where they used to say : Cedant arma Togas, meaning that the weapons surrender before Togas. The Supreme Leader despite his natural cautiousness cannot understand that differently that an offer for eternal peace.

                            Note of the Editor.
As usual, an insufferable pedant of the Ar**los family find necessary to say : The exact quote in pure latin is Cedant arma togae ; having said that, I am inclined to think that the Romans are really nice guys who understand perfectly well where our mutual interest is.

The Sponge party wins the elections
The Stone party has taken a severe beating in the last poll, and we can expect that the interior policy will be seriously amended.

Plot discovered : three leaders of the Sponge party condemned to exile
A murderous plot against the Supreme leader was discovered just in time before the worst happened. Immediately put in jail, The Court choose freely to proceed without their ignominious presence. The prosecutor asked for eternal banishment. In a memorable speech for the defence, the attorney declared : I dont know a sanction severe enough for criminals as my clients.

                            Call for modesty
A research recently conducted has shown that the average number of posts for the 5 greatest posters of each team are extremely different :
                            Gathering Storm = 2600
                            Glory of war = 2100
                            Lux invicta = 1600
                            RolePlay = 1100
                            Lego = 500
As it is well known that this number is closely connected with the actual strenth, the final ranking will certainly not be extremely different.
Another research based on the average IQ was also started, but quickly discontinued, because, except of course for our Supreme Leader, the results would have badly hurt some egos.

Remember to state in the newz that an (unnamed) Rat Party member called Plutiin, was about to defect to another group... He despised the Rolemaster of the Realm.

It could give them reason for treason. And since they don't know that I'm loyal... I play traitor to give them false information... later.
