  • Industrial Age Update

We should be receiving Metalurgy next turn, which will bump us into the Industrial Age.

I intend to do a full and complete update of our cities, military, plans, and place in the world.

I am glad to see that old team members are posting in the forum and are interested in what's going on in the game. I am, however, unhappy to report that absolutely nothing has happened since our exodus from our homeland.

There have been no wars or conflicts of any sort.

The speculative plans to invade Legoland were never undertaken, and now that the world all has railroads, no one seems interested in invading anyone at all.

There has been absolutely no diplomacy or scheming or whatnot. The only thing of interest appears to be GS's race to Hoover, in which we are contributing GPT to allow them to research faster, and they are giving us techs as they become widely available.

We will have Navigation in 7 turns or so and Conquistadors, but the world will likely be immune to such things with mass-railways and cavalry to handle our incursions.

Suffice it to say, I'm not very optimistic, but I keep playing the save and sending it on as it's my duty to do so. I'd be happy if anyone else wanted to get involved with our turnplanning or playing. We have the making of a democracy if we choose to use them.

How certain are you that no-one is interested in attacking anyone else (including Legoland)? Could we not attempt to fire someone or other up to doing this?

Although I do not yet of course have the save or know much oif the situation in other lands, I would be rather partial to allying even with demon-fiends to thrust at those heartless ones who claimes to be our friends at one point - Legoland. Demons are by their very nature despicable, whereas these Legolanders made their choice to betray us. Even a Death-or-Glory charge might be well worth it to stir things up.

Who are GS racing against for Hoover's? How much further ahead of us is everyone, amd what level of Naval tech has been reached?

The problem with any kind of attack is one thing...railroads. Without a massive invasion force and sea superiority, any invasion is bound to fail soon after it starts. More options become available with units such as marines.

Below, is the information that I have. Everything else is unknown. I invite any and all of you to contact other teams to see if an invasion can be worked up or to find out who's in competition with GS for Hoovers, etc.

Very little has been communicated to us. We know only what GS has told us and they seem to have become very isolated themselves.

            Turn Results for 820ad

We receive Metalurgy, Iron, and Furs from GS.

            We enter the INDUSTRIAL AGE

militarily, we are weak to everyone, even Vox.

We are ranked 5th in Population, 4th in family size. 6th in every other catagory (except disease and polution, in which we're 1)

            we receive 147gpt.
we pay 40gpt to other civs (30 to GS, 10 to vox)

NET AFTER ALL COSTS = 51gpt
            TOTAL TREASURY = 955
            Navigation in 7 turns.

we have iron (GS), horses (vox), furs (GS), and Incense.

We have no salt peter or coal.

GS has built Copernicus, Newton, ToE, and are building Hoovers right now.

Lego has built Magellan, JS Bachs, and Smiths.

Sistine Chappel is still available to us! If we can find a commercial wonder to build (unlikely) we could get a GA through that plus Sistine.

            ACTIONS DURING THE TURN
I do some research and discover that horsemen DO NOT upgrade to Conquistadors

            CITIES
El Paso builld is changed to Pikemen (we will later upgrade to Riflemen). I then adjusted El Paso WF for maxium commerce while still maintaining 16spt (15 is all we need, but couldn't get it that low)

Santa Barbara build is changed to galleon (we'll need these if we plan to actually invade someone)

San Antonio build is changed to galleon (ditto)

            WORKERS
Workers Castor, Pollox, NW, GT moved to forest tiles (cats and horsemen moved into their old places) and begin CHOPPING FOREST as per advice of GS who is going to RR our land in a few turns. Aidun and El Nino workers moved into position to help chop next turn.

The only person who asked for the save was MrWIA, so I forwarded it to him, however, I would be happy to forward next turn's save to more of you as many changes were done on this turn, and generally not much is changed.

Just post and I'll send you the next one.

This has also been posted in the diplomacy thread. Please review that for more info

PLEASE DO NOT SHARE THIS INFO WITH ANYONE!

                  Togas,
Okay, an update. I'm sorry we're not more chatty lately, but as usual our diplo corps is nearly non-existant... the team has been quiet as there aren't many exiting things happening.

                  Tech:
We're researching Corp, and have electronics (from ToE). Further, we got Sanition from GoW. (Indus from Lego).

It looks like we're going to enter some kind of alliance with GoW, but there has been little talk about this, just some kind of mutual understanding that if we don't do something, we're both dead. We're hoping that we just traded our last tech to Lego, which from now on (hopefully) will get isolated, at least in techs.

ND has been erradic as of late, they're buying their techs, while in full expansion. I don't think they can keep up the pace, techs are coming at 4-turn between. They are the primary reason Lego hasn't been isolated already, as they freely traded for Lego's techs. (which were in most cases the same as ours)

GoW is also doing a good job of building unis... So far, we're trying to split the tree with them: their going for Rep Parts, we're going for Coorp. Normally, we'll do steel, they'll do refining. After that, nothing has been decided yet, but we should get to both tanks and marines at the same time. After that, it won't take long until war breaks out (should be in some 25-35 turns, as a rough guess). We would love to take on Lego, GoW is obviously also looking to ND. Nothing final yet. Main thing is that GoW does not get any idea of invading us, they probably wouldn't be able to destroy us, but would seriously damage us nevertheless.

Don't move your units out of the way next turn, but the turn after that (so not in 830, but probably in 840). Please wait until we can spot if any boats from others are close by. We've got a perfect defense so far, no need to compromise it.

Currently, we're RRing all flat land, so once that has been done for you, we'll return home with our workers and RR all our hills and mountains. After that, we'll return for you. If you have any other things that need to be done, just ask, we've got plenty of workers, and are planning on having lots more. But you understand that as long as you didn't benefit from it, we looked at our own territory first to improve it. The forest is the only thing we can't help you with, though, we can't cut it as the game won't let us.

What to build: riflemen is of course good, but you might also think on prebuilding factories (enough ancient wonders doing nothing), we will be able to give Indus to you in 19 turns. Nat will have to wait another 18 turns. We will give those to you, so don't spend money if you don't have to... the next 19 turns, you are guaranteed to be safe behind the sea wall, marines won't appear for another 25 turns at least. And we'll probably be the ones getting them first. By that time, we'll probably be in mobilisation, as it is one of the only possibilities we have of keeping up with the others... we're #4 in land.

I trust this does not go any further then our 2 teams, most of the things mentioned here were not told to any other team.

                  Any questions: just ask...

Should we consider taking on ND with GOW first, getting our homelands back first. This would weken Lego by cutting off their research partner. This would help GoW and GS because they could grow, have a strong (yet not winnable yet) team guarding their rear areas (us) and so forth. Also, gives plenty of time for GS to do their prep for lego time.

I agree. ND would make an excellent first target ... mostly because it will allow us to grow again and get some resources of our own.

Legoland is the ultimate target, and the location of the final battle of the modern ages.

The endgame is approaching. While admittedly our changes of victory are small we should think about what our game plan is and what potential victory may occur.

UN: Considered the "cheese win" by most, we cannot win by this method due to lack of land and pop. Only ND and Lego would be eligible, must likely. Any vote would likely end up 2 Lego (Lego-Vox) 2 ND (ND-GoW) and 2 abstentions (us-GS). Of course backstabbing could occur and change this.

Culture. Highly unlikely. No single city would get close, and make isn't big enough for 100k win, this is always tough regardless in MP.

Domination/Conquest. Not going to happen anytime soon. Would require a lot of warfare. no one civ is dominant to achieve either I do not think

Spaceship. The most likely vistory. ND and Lego and most likely to build. They have the infrastructure to build, and capitals in fairly secure locations. Unless Lego and ND were damaged, even GS may have trouble.

Clearly, Lego must be stopped first. With a Dogpile they could be stopped. after that us and GS should attempt a backstab on ND. Its the only way GS could build a SS without getting their cap trashed in short order.

Without this plan of attack..the end game becomes a lot of last ditch attempts to pillage resources, raze capitals as SS parts start being built.
