  • Exodus?

I cannot make this decision for Spain. I need to hear from all of you.

The following is a letter from Cort Haus of GS:
    Hi Togas,

Any news from your turn? Did Invention arrive safely?

We just asked Lego for gunpowder. We'll research it in four turns ourselves, but we said to them "if you want us off Bob prove that we're not holding any SP and we'll be off". We wait with interest.

Sooner or later, it'll be over for us both in Spain - for now - and we'd reallly like to know what your thoughts are on the immediate and medium-term future.

Pamplona : Saltpeter aside, would you prefer to stick it out and make them pay? Or would you prefer to keep your units?

    N. Stomia : There are five cities up there. At size six they could probably pull in 80gpt. Subtract about 30gpt for unit maintenance on the sea-wall, and there should be enough for a modest but healthy research program, running in co-operation with our own to help us catch up the others. We'll continue to provide the sea wall until you have enough units of your own (I think 26 are needed). If you choose to spend your existing units at Pamp, or the enemy choose for you catapults would make excellent sea-wall units - cheap, they ping ships, don't have hp to lose, and could be very handy in the future.

Another thing to look forward to are your Conquistadors and your golden age. RP still have a chance of outliving GoW, and who knows what role later. If ND destroyed GoW then attacked Lego, all hell would break loose and there might be options reopening for us both on Bob. An ND/GoW attack on Lego would also be interesting. All speculation, but the first priority for both of us is survival. When the curtain finally comes down in Spain, GS needs to secure it's own borders (only N.Stormia has a sea wall now) and face the future.

We very much look forward to hearing your thoughts on these matters.

    Regards,

    CH
    What will our choice be?

I’m not the expert Civ player, and haven’t been here in a long time, but at this point if I were playing this game with my computer I would likely start a new one I guess we will have to become the Kingdom of Asturias, but it seems like any revenge on the Arabs or Chinese will take a very very long time with not much happening except making money That’s not my idea of fun, but as I said, I’m not the expert Civ player I would think people would want to concentrate their energies on other Civ games where they have a chance of winning

When Germany invaded France in 1940, De Gaulle retreated and formed a counter-government in France's North African colonies.

I have an enormous hatred towards all other nations except GS and others that don't side with ND-GoW, that is, like a fire, burning in me, and it has been refuelled by the refuse if GoW to recognise the hopelessness of the current situation. Wisdom is again not ruling GoW, they rather like to face total war. If they want it, they can have it.

I say: let's follow France's example and retreat, after all, France did, with allied support regain it's territorry fully and grew stronger out of it than before the war.

We musn't however give them our beloved Spanish cities as a present. Get GS to agree that war investments in Spain can be lowered now, if they could just maintain the current spanish cities as long as possible with just a little defensive - no longer offensive - support, by keeping up citydefences.

We can maintain Pamplona until it becomes overrun and have our capitol in North Estonia.

If GoW or ND would conquer a city of us, we do nothing to get it back, because investing more in this war is useless and will only hold ND and GoW away from their war with Lego. We needn't to give up what we have.

Anorther argument for this is that we don't know if ND and GoW won't concentrate on totally destroying RP and GS.
Afterall we have to keep in mind that especially GoW doesn't think rational, and might thus do something else than what is considered the best option.

MAKE them pay for Pamplona with blood. I may see acepting GS'es cities so that we can still hang out, but that aside, let's make Pamplona as strong as possible, even upgrade to Musket if we can somehow before they attack. We need to make this war last as long as possible; make it really cost GoW and ND.

I agree with BigFree, but we must also somehow het them into a war with Legoland.

            Here's what I think:

GS has already given us cities in the north and we've accepted them. If they give us more, we'll take them. If they need them back, we'll give them back. Once Spain is completely conquered, our existance in exile will be as servants to GS, our saviors. Our full allegance will go to them. Perhaps one day we shall return to Spain, but we must leave such matters for the dreams of our children ... should any survive.

As for ND and GoW, if they grant us a sufficient chunk of Spain to stay on, I'm willing to talk peace, but that's about the only acceptable terms for giving up our Pamplona fortress. I will only surrender Pamplona if we have a concerte assurance that Spain will continue to exist, and that we will retain a part of our homeland.

And I'm somewhat pessimistic that we will ever have that sort of assurance.

As for ND and their ridiculous offer to not rename our cities ... so what? The people of Spain have spoken in great numbers -- they do not want to live as slaves to the Arabs. Most of you would rather die than live in servitide to the Arabs, and I agree. I will stand with you in Pamplona and defend the walls until the bitter end.

Sounds like we're on the same page concerning policy toward ND. As you can see, I (politely) scoffed at ND's "offer" once they made it clear what it was.

If ND is willing to offer us something substantial, I'm willing to talk. But not until they put something substantial on the table, likely no less than a chunk of Bob (ideally a chunk of Bob with saltpeter we can trade to GS).
