  • Repopulating Spain

I had this idea while answering at the "Why I hate Legoland" thread.

It is clear that now we are in a state of total war, but things have improved a little bit and we can think about something else than just defending ourselves.

New Madrid is population 7, and Barcelona is population 6 and cannot grow more. One of them, or both, could build a settler and we found new cities inside our current borders. For example, NW of Barcelona and SE of Pamplona. We use the GS pattern. Those cities will only have size 6 at much, so no problem here. We build mines with our workers and turn them in extra production centers.

And about production, the only thing that matter for us are military units and military improvements. We become a berserk warmonger civ, and we call for the RECONQUISTA!!!

If that plan succeeds and we manage to conquer back some cities, we hold them if we can. Otherwise we raze them. The goal is to hurt our enemies as much as we can, doing some kind of dirty work for GS.

Please post a map of the plan including where we should build the additional cities.

At this moment I have clear one of such locations

With that location we gain access to #3 #6 #18 #19 and #20 of the new city. The new city can even use some hills of Barcelona and Madrid if needed, and the desert irrigated to maintain its population.

Good idea, I'd prefer having a temple at Barcelona but in very short term a new city on that spot would be more profitable.

A mid-way solution maybe would be using the tile 1 N 1 W of that spot. Once irrigated, there would be 3 desert tiles for food production and the city would be at 1 turn from Pamplona and New Madrid.

If you look at the worker that's selected in this picture, I like the tile that is NW of him.

I think that the place proposed by King Togas is a good place. Can be easily defended with the same troops that are defending our lands right now, and can grow to size 6 and be productive. if we founded these two cities we would pass from 4 to 6 productive centers.

Also, if GS can free some city, they could give the city to us, because it will be far less corrupt and much more productive in our hands. Maybe thinking about this we should continue building pikes for a while.

I support the Togas location first (less corrupted and better growth)

Yes, I agree with His Majesty's proposal. I hope, perhaps, that it may be of some assistance in keeping our culture alive.

                    I like that place too.
