  • Message from GS

    Arnelos,

In the last several turns, several members of my team, myself included, felt that the info flow between our two teams was somewhat slown down. In the first few turns of the war, as I'm sure you remember, we used to consult each other and plan together the moves we've made. Let us sit together again, and plan the demise of our enemies- I can assure you the GS doesn't sit idly, despite the slow down in the war in the last few turns- we both have plenty of work to do, and with our combined strength, I'm confident we can drive back the heathens.

Please, contact me or any other team member (NYE, Theseus, Arrian, Shiber, Vel etc...) to have this arranged and settled.

    With thanks,
    Zeit of the Gathering Storm.
Indeed, contact has slowed down... we should set up a chat with them. I'll contact NYE when I'm next online, but I haven't been directly involved in the turnchats. Togas, we should probably schedule turnchat times in conjunction with GS if that isn't too hard.

    Just a thought...

    Good point.

Yeah, we have slowed down lately as our turns have become more and more predictable and less subject to the movements of the enemy.

I'll PM Zeit and assure him that we'll stay in closer contact and we welcome a joint military sitdown.

I am very interested in hearing what their plans are and trying to find a way for Spain to help out.

I just sent Zeit a short reply as well, letting him know I posted his PM here, contacted you, and have chatted with NYE on the subject.

        PM sent to Zeit:
        Zeit,

I have cleaned out my inbox AND my outbox, however, feel free to email me directly at tom_ogas@yahoo.com It's a much more reliable method of communication.

Arnelos posted your message in our forum and I concur. We haven't spoken as much these past few turns. We have simply gone through the motions of managing our cities and worker and moving new units about. The enemy has presented us with no changes and we have, therefore, continued to carry on with our conservative plans of defending Pamplona at all cost and rebuilding cut roads, while our rear cities get back into war production.

I have made a point of contacting NYE with any new information we receive and any requests we have had.

In the future, we welcome GS participation at our chats, there just hasn't been much to chat about the last few turns. We are also VERY interested in a joint military planning meeting. Right now Nuclear Winter and BigFree are the primary military minds on our team. Both are working on some future plans and both are anxious to meet with your team to see how we can help each other in this war.

Please give me a good time/day to meet and I will share it with my team.

            received from Zeit:
            Togas,

I have recieved word from Arnelos- he suggested making MilOps a permanent channel for GS-RP talks. I think this is a wonderful idea, and I'm sure the other GS members will agree. Both our team have (I hope ) fond memories of the talks held there during the earlier days of this war and alliance, so I'm sure this would work well.

I will make contact with NW and BF about this- I'm not so good with technicalities registering an IRC channel involves, but I'm sure we could find someone that could accomplish that task...

I would also like to stress out that despite the fact that we are now commited almost wholly to defense, there are many things that can be done- our generals have adopted a defense strategy that could help us take the edge off of the enemy's speed advantage- by, for example, placing defensive units on key tiles. RP could certainly help by sparing troops for this important task, which could save the lives of other troops, and bring the loss ration greatly to our favor.

            Respectfully,
            Zeit.
BigFree -- can you register MilOps, password "right", make it secret, and give all those GS guys and us access to it?

nye> ok. bad news. nd and gow coverged on a stack of our advancing in the south last turn
                nye> our losses are 8 kn, 3 p, 8 cats
nye> we do not know their losses, but we can see 9 wonded ansars/riders
nye> the debate now is whether to press ahead to take advantage of what must be their weakened state, and force the disbandment of the cats...
                nye> or, pull back
                Togas> what can we do?
nye> the 11 pike/kn were truely fortified, btw. with cat support, so their losses may be large
nye> well, how much can be in alamo?
                Togas> I wish we knew
nye> we can see 3 wounded riders, 1 not wounded
nye> we have killed 1 rider to this point in our turn
nye> we will most likely kill another
                Togas>
nye> that would leave 9 less losses
Togas> have someone work out the math for how many 4 attack units it takes to destroy your fort stack (with cats)
nye> we are wondering how much you would like to risk?
Togas> we're willing to risk quite a bit, I just wish we had more in range
Togas> my guys are itching to fight

nye> The c's are catapults, right?
nye> IIRC the knights and pikes were all fortified. According to the stack calculator, the average losses expected from attacking our stack with (up to) 25 riders/ansars are 10.2 losses from each side. We did worse than that, obviously since we lost all our units (we had a 30% chance that one or more would survive against 25 attackers). The subset of trials where we lose all our units, the attackers lose 8.9 on average (9 being the single most li
nye> I think it is fair to say that barring pretty good luck for us (aside from losing all those units that is) we came off second best in this battle., despite having better than 50-50 odds in each individual fight.
nye> Annoyingly, they managed to get most of their wounded units to safety, so we can't even pick those off to even up the odds.
nye> We know of 11 of their units out of the anticipated 25 or so, so 14 are unaccounted for. We have about a 0.6% chance that we killed 14 units, so lets not count on that. They likely have another 5 or so riders/ansars guarding the GoW southern cities (while ND have probably flooded their taking with defenders by now).
                nye> ... posted by vulture
                nye> so... 14 ansars, plus 13 riders... 27
                nye> 10 plus lost.
nye> 2 more for us to kill
nye> 6 wounded ansars and 2 wounded riders visible
                nye> 3 unwounded ansars
                nye> that would be 23

                nye> review
                nye> brb
                Togas> that's one hell of a fight
Togas> would leave very few GoW Riders left
Togas> however, ND would have done most of the damage
Togas> taken most of the losses, since they act first
Togas> if we can somehow take Alamo, we can move most of our defenders there ... however, we would then be split between Pampl and Alamo
                nye> yes
Togas> we have 3 inf, 4 knights in range
Togas> I wish we'd moved more last turn
nye> oh. that is not enough.
Togas> this next turn we could move all our inf onto mountain top, but that gives them another turn to fortify alamo
nye> yeah. i am realising that we move, they move, then you move
nye> plus the 2 elite wounded on roads can make it back there
                Togas> 7 4-attack units vs Alamo ... bad odds?
nye> not good enough, if they have 5 or 6 units there

                Togas> just keep us informed.
                nye> ok
Togas> my guys need to know your estimate on how many dead, how many may be in the theatre, and let us know what we can do to help
Togas> maybe we can cut the supply lines to the north

Thank you for posting the log. I feel significantly less lost for my absence.

Now, what's the latest on Lego diplomacy? I think a chat with ZargonX is called for... I'll see if I can set something up, but Togas and BigFree are more than welcome to do stuff on their own if they've already got stuff in the works or they happen to be online with Zargon

What do we want to get from Lego this time? Unless Lego's plastic hearts are melting of our bravery and heroism, I doubt that we can get anything from them.
