  • Taking the war to the Infidels

Your Commander is brewing ideas for fighting back the infidels, and will welcome ideas and insights.

In the turn chat with nye this last turn we starting discussing offensive ideas.

We initially discussed a large joint Leon attack, and decided it would too openly invite a dual attack on Pamplona with us having dedicated too many units to the Leon attack.

Presently we are discussing a joint Salamanca maneuver, in which a small stack of our units are not meant for the actual assault, but instead are engineered to provoke a premature attack on Pamplona, as the enemy can not possibly have an accurate estimate of the forces contained therein.

I will post other ideas and plans-in-the-making as they are conceived. Please feel free to suggest others.

Know that GS is planning a southern "cleanup" effort, but it will take some time to prepare and launch. I will also post information on that once I have it.

    Notes:

Barcelona and Madrid will be under our control next turn. Both of these cities have NO garrison.

We are sending both galleys back to Barcelona to, perhaps pick up units there for an invasion. Plan on us having 2 galleys available for a small amphibious attack.

GoW and ND have no idea how many units we have in Pamplona and will likely underestimate our #s there.

We would like to bait ND and/or GoW into attacking Pamplona while we have such strong defenses there.

I suggested that some sort of public statement might make them overconfident enough to bite.

Segment from the chat on this:

[Togas] I think they'll charge IF they feel we've left open the gates of Pamplona
[dejon] we want to bait them in
      [dejon] not scare them off
[Togas] I wish they'd charge out of "desperation" but I think not. They are too cautious
[dejon] It might take a public statement of desperation on our part about our plight to give them the overconfidence to attack Pamp
[Togas] what if we asked them for a ceasefire?
[dejon] I think some sign that "we're prepared to roleplay our unit deaths to the bitter end" would do it - a ceasefire involves too much talk - we want them to interpret and react - diplomacy involves thinking
[dejon] some sort of sign that we'd rather go out in a blaze of glory, if you know what I mean
      [Togas] hmm...
[dejon] It needs to be obviously and official though, or they'll ignore it as normal RP fluff.
[Togas] post about it in our forum, let's see if we can shape it up into some sort of real "bait"

      Ideas?

Barcelona was already under our control, we just had no garrison there.

dejon, you should get together with a GS member in charge of units and formulate a combined plan with them.

I wonder if Lego would be willing to spare some gold at this point....

I suggest we start dripping small bits of it in the ISDG room whenever MasterZen is in there, he is very attentious to this kind of detail, and may fall easily. Maybe roleplaying our anarchy as our soldiers leaving Spannish government after the 5th month without payment, this kind of thing can make them think we´re about to kick the bucket.
