  • Spain's War Anthem against China and Arabia!

    To the tune of Minstrel Boy: http://www.contemplator.com/folk/mus-folk/minboy.mid

    What our armies sing:

    The Son of God goes forth to war,
    A kingly crown to gain;
    His blood-red banner streams afar:
    Who follows in His train?
    Who best can drink his cup of woe,
    Triumphant over pain,
    Who patient bears his cross below,
    He follows in His train.

    That martyr first, whose eagle eye
    Could pierce beyond the grave;
    Who saw his Master in the sky,
    And called on Him to save.
    Like Him, with pardon on His tongue,
    In midst of mortal pain,
    He prayed for them that did the wrong:
    Who follows in His train?

    A glorious band, the chosen few
    On whom the Spirit came;
    Twelve valiant saints, their hope they knew,
    And mocked the cross and flame.
    They met the tyrant's brandished steel,
    The lion's gory mane;
    They bowed their heads the death to feel:
    Who follows in their train?

    A noble army, men and boys,
    The matron and the maid,
    Around the Savior's throne rejoice,
    In robes of light arrayed.
    They climbed the steep ascent of Heav'n,
    Through peril, toil, and pain;
    O God, to us may grace be given,
    To follow in their train.

    WOW....
    *Applauses are heard all over the barracks of Toledo. The crowds rise in great happiness and joy and all raise their swords and Spears up high , uniting their voices in what came to be know as the Spannish warcry, ´´San Dyego & Alla!!!´´*

      Can we make this our national anthem?

      History Guy, it is magnificent, I almost got tears in my eyes, imagining a whole army of tenthousands of men singing this.

        Ehm HG, I can't hear the sound. I can download it, but when I play it in winamp or the mediaplayer I can't hear anything.

          Aidun...

          As much as I'd like to, I can't claim this song to be my creation. It is, however, one of my favorite hymns, and one that is too rarely sung these days. However, I think it'd make a great anthem, and I was glad I could find a copy!

          As for the tune... I'll look for another page that has a MIDI file of Minstrel Boy.

            How about adding a last line like For the glory of Spain, it'll rhyme and everything
