Ok, our defense of Spain seems to be a hopeless struggle to defend the lives of our people... our warriors will die bravely and galantly on the field of battle, every man (young or old) shall be called to service to defend the waning days of the Spanish Kingdom...
The armies of evil that march against us are driven only by hatred and a lust for our land. Though they VASTLY outnumber and outclass our forces, our forces have the greater bravery and valour and fight to defend their homes rather than destroy the homes of others.
So yeah... I just got home from watching the Two Towers again (it's still in the cheap theatres!).
Anyhow... our situation to that at the Battle of Helm's Deep is quite similar. Doom seems certain, yet we can fight out the last of our days in a valiant struggle to defend our homes and our families, even if it means we will all end up in our graves.
However, there is always a glimmer of hope, one which the enemy may not forsee. Though we believe ourselves alone, abandoned, and doomed, there are perhaps friends and allies that we may call upon to help us give a future to our people in peace.
In LOTR, though Rohan long ago and again in the books declares fealty to Gondor as a part of their alliance, it is an alliance none the less. And allies fight together to defeat the foul beasts that are our common enemy.
Indeed, the beasts that are the "Glory of War" seem almost a perfect match for the foul orcs of the LOTR world. Our twin enemies of ND and GoW with their infadel hordes are akin to the orcish hordes with threatened those valiant defenders in myth.
And as with those valiant defenders, we shall shed much blood in the defense of our homes and people, but the bravery and valour of that sacrifices will not be cheapened by the existence of friends who may yet help to defend us.
That some of our lands will move with time is perhaps inevitable is but a small price to pay for the ultimate victory against the hordes of darkness that not only threaten ourselves, but the whole of the world. We must stand against this darkness and welcome the coming of any friends who would help us to defeat it.
In the long run, it is no shame to join in partnership with others who also wish to defeat this evil from GoW and ND - forever. For none will be safe in this world until that evil IS defeated and our friends and we seem to share this commitment.
So let us fight and die to defend our lands, but also let us not turn away the hand of aid. The survival of our women and children should matter as much if not more to us than our pride.
