As a Pope, I do not vote, I don't wish to interfere with Royal Family matters. My position doesn't allow me to choose for either girl as both are equal to me. This is a matter on which the King-mother should follow the counsel that that almighty God gives her: the voice of her heart.
The young King and the royal family have to accept that some things cannot be decided through vote in the Thane Council. Some things can only be decided though the heart.

Accept it your majesty, let the almighty God speak to you, listen to your heart.

Careful, Marshal. One of those "brainless twits" will be your next Queen. Show more respect to your King by refraining from insulting his bride to be.

Although I could have had some reason to distrust a Calamari offspring, this is all past, forgiven and forgotten. So my choice is based only on the objective personal qualities of the two candidates.

And considering that Freedom Penelope likes to spent most of his time in the garden, I think she will save Togas from mowing the lawn, which is certainly the most boring work that a husband can be ordered to do.

          Thanks, Senor Torquemada. Sort of.

Hey! What a minute! The King doesn't cut his lawn anymore! This is Monarchy! Buddy Sanchez does that.

Well, she got my vote for wrong reasons, but she got it anyway (often the case in elections ).

Buddy Sanchez would probably be greatful for the help she would give him. Have you seen the palace lawns? Talk about a mowing headache...

I may be familiar with the man. Many of Pamplona's poor and indigent as well as those displaced by my countless atrocities have fled the city to look for a better life in the service industries of Madrid. They'll all immigrate back soon enough; I can't wait

The new palace will need to be built and maintained. We could look for an alternative to grass... Or better yet, we could make it a grazing pasture for the herds

If anyone couldn't vote because the poll closed, just post your vote here (and please be honest). If no one else posts within the next 12 hours then Penelope Libre will be named the next Queen of Spain.

Just in case I haven't made it clear, Penelope Libre of the BigFree clan has been chosen to be the next Queen of Spain.

A formal wedding is scheduled and shall be held shortly IF anyone expresses interest in reading about that sort of thing (because writing up a cheesy, romantic wedding isn't really the sort of RP that I'm into, and I doubt BigFree wants to do that either. ) you'd better say so or else we'll just all assume it happens and not deal with all of the details

Am I too late? Oh darn! Doesnt really matter. (think "Liberal Democrats for Bush (or Gore))

Was planning to run of with the bride to be, but it turned out that the bride I thought to be turned out not to be the bride to be.

Anyway, Since Isabella wont be queen of Spain, perhaps she would like to be the Lady of Vigo?
Senor Calamari, would you agree to such a joining of our two families' interests through holy matrimony?

Of course I would grant it. The Nunez family is most respectable and popular, and I think that such a wedding would be rather profitable for everyone. I would be honored to have you as a son-in-law. A truer son of Spain there never was, and married to Spain's truest daughter, a perfect match. You have my consent and blessings.

Let's go round to see the Pope, then, shall we?

Some observations from the Royal Wedding of Justino Togas and Penelope Libre...

This, the first wedding of a King in the history of Spain, occured in the city of Pamplona, along the eastern river bank.

Penelope Libre, who is much loved and admired by the common people, wore a simple but eligant dress made of the finest Spanish silks. A beautiful wreath of flowers adorned her hair.

Justino was dressed in Royal finery, carrying the Sword of Spain at his side.

The Pope himself lead the service and gave the vows.

A chair was left empty for the deceased Augusto Togas, who did not live to see his son married. Justino's mother, Isabella, wore a dignified white dress and many of the crown jewels, recently brought to the Royal family by Lord Nunez of Vigo.

The celebration that followed the wedding lasted well into the next night.

The "newly noble" family of the Libres met and mingled with many of the oldest noble families of Spain. It was feared that some of the oldest families might not show for this wedding but, as it turned out, all were in attendance (OOC: Please post if your family did not come).

There were no incidents of violence, and little talk of the plague in Madrid. The event was a joyous event for a nation that has suffered much as of late. It was hoped that this event would be a turning point in Spain's history. Hopefully, for the best.
