Time should stand still for awhile. We are celebrating our monotheistic Christian beliefs 550 years before the birth of Christ

"The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country." -- Abraham Lincoln

"Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever, in flesh and blood, walked upon this earth." -- Albert Einstein, in regards to Mohandis Gandhi

The balcony of the governor's mansion was poised on a hillside overlooking the guarded streets of a city in the grips of paralysis. Nothing moved below, and from such a lonely perch, the burroughs and backalleys of Pamplona harbored nothing of the normalcy of daily life.

Shadows gave way to shadows against the crisp edges of a sun that never set, and the stray cloud seemed like an apparition ship in frozen drift on a voided journey across time. No wind stirred the dusty footpaths or matched the desparate pace of nameless pedestrians on their way, nor did the pedestrians stir the streets.

If life existed at all anymore, it did so behind the curtained portals of rowhouses and nestled in among the damp, cool interiors of fern bars, and the governor imagined now and again, in disturbing flashes, that he could picture the people flattening out, becoming their own wallpaper, their anguished faces washing across the veil like waking dreams that welcome sleep...

And in that state, we wait and wait...

[ooc] How's that for despair? Come on! Let's get going again [/ooc]

        Well, I have news...

While the rest of you were waiting for time to move again, I was sucked by sheer chance into the time/space continuum. I ended up landing in Hell, as it happens, and quickly deduced that this was all the work of Lucifer, Moloch, and Belial, who are all plotting the total destruction of all things holy and immortal.

I think the cure would be to exterminate all witches in the vicinity of Madrid, and quickly. Otherwise, we shall all be stuck this way forever!!

Perhaps Queen Isabella is right and there are some in the Church who aren't really Christians and are not following through.

            Cardinal Calamari
            ---

Yes, we must burn them all! They are servants of the Devil, you see. The Inquisition is needed, you see. I saw signs just the other day. Whirlwinds of fire appeared in the sky, great storms tore through the bay. Fires broke out in the city, and disappeared without leaving a mark. A statue of St. Hernan sweated in the Church of St. Hernan. And, on the 5th of June, heathen squid miserably destroyed a fishing boat. I think it means that we must repent and offer up our sins to God, and form a strong Church. Spain must become great through the Church, it is the only way. And the Church can only survive through purity!
