Trading Tech Around

I splitted the Trades thread and updated it with info I got from GoW. Have a look there. Please post replies here, and not there.

We have a Civ trait that might benefit us in this situation: we're Scientific, meaning that we'll get Monotheism for free if we have all required techs from the Ancient Era.

We can use this to trade for all Ancient Era techs. It so happens that all Civs we know are researching different things. This is the situation:

We need:

• Construction (researching this, but GoW offers it to us for Monotheism)
• Currency (researched by ND)
• Code of Laws (GS has this one)
• MapMaking (GoW offers this to us for 40g+worker, or we might get it from Vox)
• Polytheism (Vox is researching this)
• Philosophy (...)

If we play it clever, we can get all those techs at once, trade them around a bit, and give Monotheism to all Civs who helped us in the process. Then we'll build a galley, sail to Legoland, and sell the techs for some good land and maybe a city.

I'm not sure how well this plan fits into the deals we have with Vox. But we'll be able to compensate them with the Ancient Era techs we get.

Too bad that, if all SciCivs get Mono for free, then there is no way we can sell Mono to Vox, who are also Sci.

BFM, if you can work out a deal with the other teams to get those techs, then I'll deal with Vox and GS. Getting Currency and other such things could be difficult, but we need to make peace with GoW and ND and get on regular terms with them.

With are inability to trade certain tech (due to the GoW deal) our tech trading ability will be constrained for a while.

Sadly, no. We can only give Vox Mono if they have all techs from the Ancient Era, and that would yield them Mono automatically. Vice versa, too, of course.

But.. there is a new PTW patch out. One of the changes is that the 'random tech generator for Sci Civs' is improved.

We have not talked since some time. This should change, is my opinion. RP is the only Civ on the continent we can really trust. I sent a message to jdjdjd, but he told me I should speak to you personally.

Much has happened since our last posts. The evil ND people, who speak a strange language, have attacked us and we were forced to burn our cities to the ground. A pity. We really hope that they'll not be able to find our last Settler, otherwise, we will be doomed. But we have taken precautions to keep it hidden from them.

In the meantime, we may be able to do business. We learned the secret of Mathematics, which you already know, and will soon be getting Writing and MapMaking. Yes - we are still a nation of traders, as you can see.

As you might know, we are a Scientific Civ, meaning that we'll get a Free Tech once we have all mandatory Ancient Era techs. That is why we want to strike a deal with you.

If you can provide us with two of the following techs: Philosophy, Construction or Currency (or one such tech and an amount of Gold, or one such tech and either Republic or Monarchy), we will give you our free tech in return, once we reach the Medieval Era.

Remember that this tech is free for us, but quite costly for you - the research needed is considerably higher...!

Note that I told Togas the secret of our existence, though he has pledged not to tell anyone, including those of his own team.

First I'd like to say that the secret of Lux's escape will stay with my team should they figure it out. Right now we have spied GoW and ND troops scattered all over your former territories trying to hunt down your last city. It's a joy to watch and the longer they flounder about searching the more time my nation has to prepare.

Second, trading with your nation is a win-win situation. Whenever we give technology to another nation we risk the possibility of it being used against us, however, with your nation we have no such risk. We only hope that you will return one day and reclaim your old city sites and take your final revenge on Neu Dem and Glory of War. We also hope that you can remain an ally in our efforts to survive their cunning and treachery.

Third, and most importantly, we have grown very unhappy lately that our tech deals have gone unanswered and techs that are primarily Spanish are being sought for from swindlers and enemies. Lux Invicta should aquire Writing and Literature ... two Spanish acheivements ... from Spain. Not from some second or third rate nation overseas. The fact that you have not asked for either of these technologies leads us to believe that some swindlers are trying to pass off our knowledge behind our backs.

You have a very clever proposal, and I am certain that you plan to obtain innumerable techologies from the free one you discover. Spain is merely a pawn in this scheme, and while I admire your cunning, I will agree to participate if you will agree to the following:

1) You will buy Writing from us for 50 gold.
2) We will give you 2 of the following: Philosophy, Construction, Currency, Literature, Polytheism, 50 gold, World Map ... OR we will give you Monarchy OR Republic ... in exchange for the free technology you discover.

Do note that if we do not participate and everyone else does, we will be able to get quite a bargain from those who have the "free tech" as there will be an abundance of it to go around.

Also note, if we already have the "Free tech" this deal would be void.
