  • Defense Ministry's priorities

    1) Firm up the border with NDE and Gow

Accomplish this with two key cities. The first should be near the cattle in the North as already discussed, and agreed to. The second should be in the nook of the river just N of the spice near NDE at the edge of the hills, demarking the military border with NDE.

After these cities, future cities should be build adjacent to these, such as to put a lock on this border.

    2) Strength through obvious deterrence

We need more spearmen in those hills and cities, to prevent any warmongering from GoW or NDE.

    3) Secure strategic resources

For us, this means iron and horses and salt peter.

This will mean putting a lock down, see priority 1 above, on the hills. There's iron in the military border region which we absolutely must secure asap. With all of those hills there, there's bound to be one that may have salt-peter. Our UU will require Salt Peter and Horses. This region is vital to our future survival and success.

    4) Apply influence on domestic agencies to avoid isolation, and yet remain firm and resolute.

Our sovereignty and national security are a must, and that means we need to know how the other civs are dealing with eachother, and how they feel towards us. Our diplomatic corp is doing an awesome job at this!

We need to be more firm, however, while maintaining our conciliatory tone. We've sounded very conciliatory in our sensative dealings, but I'm not sure if we are being firm enough. We must not show to much weakness for fear of early wars, and for the same reason we can not appear to be too strong...

It's a hard dilemna, but one, which we must strive to resolve.

    5) Finally, to remind myself that it's just a game, and that at the end of the day, I am still a person with a job and a family to take care of. Oh yeah, and this is supposed to be fun

What is our current plan to build offensive units? Showing and offensive unit or two might be a better deterent that a spear. Everyone has spears... Besides we NEED a force to counterract a possible attacking force ASAP.

Right now we have 2 Spearmen and 3 Warriors guarding the border. This is an adequate force, but needs to be bolstered offensively soon. Regio needs to be improved ASAP. We need to build offensive units out of our new city ASAP as well. We can now pump out a city every 10 or so turns... REX is well under way, and soon we'll have to turn our attention to other matters...

You are both in agreement with my general direction/requests, and your details are precisely how we need to act, so Trip, HOP-TO!!!

Even the Minister of the Interior agrees with the build queue plans...

I'm not sure if we agree entirely.

            - I feel we need a city on the coast after the city near Invictus.

            - I don't see any great need to build a city by the iron. When we destroy NDE, the border will be secured anyways...

            - I simply cannot agree with your #5.

However, we again have the largest military on the planet. Much of it is in the Military Border as well, which must be quite a scene for NDE and their scouts.

Sorry - we do not. The statistic in the F11 screen says we have the largest Military Service, but that is something like:

              Total Unit Power
              --------------------
              Number of Cities

If you check the F3 screen, you'll notice that our advisor thinks we are weaker than ND, RP and GoW, and on average with Vox.

I think we need to link the horses as soon as our workers finished a bit of improvement for the new city, horses will be very useful, and build up our strength to show the others we shouldn't be played with.

If we don't have the millitary to defend Luxia, then soon someone will invade. We ought to only expand when we have enough units to defend, human players will easily see any gaps in our borders.

How about making another worker? they are a good asset as we;re industrious, and more useful to enhance our current lands than settle distant unroaded lands( might be better to build a worker than a settler).

Look, if this nation were facing me, our second city would already be in flames...expecially if I was GoW...I'd have LI on it's knees in about ten turns from now.

So early is risky, especially in this environment.

Also, this is a different type of game from regular MP... power politics and balance of power are very important.

I have two reasons for wanting the forth city on the iron.

                      1) I want to be attacking with something OTHER that archers of we get attacked and horses get pillaged.

                      2) If ND does decide to take that city it will be hard to take because it would be on a hill.

Exactly...we need to think about strength and flexibility before pretty places to live...

And you don't think an iron city wouldn't be a target from the beginning?

A better strategy, IMO, would be to hold onto Regio at all costs, then wait for them to approach Invictus. When they're over the hills and onto the plains, we use our advantage in mobile forces to crush them as they approach Invictus.
