GoW Tech Trade Offer

Ghengis Farb outlined a plan that he came up with.

He said that since NDE was researching Mathematics right now, and we are (hypothetically) researching Mysticism (as far as they know), he said that GoW was planning on cutting their science down to 0%, and giving us ~1/3 of their gold while we research Mysticism (and give it to them when we finish) for 10 to 12 turns before GoW trades Roleplay for Writing.

What do you think of the plan? We'd be getting short-changed a bit here, and GoW certainly comes out ahead. That's a possible 3 or 4 GPT for 10 or 12 turns, meaning 30 to 48 gold (which isn't much at this point).

We could later trade Mysticism to GoW for Math (which they got from NDE), then trade Mysticism to NDE for gold, or something else.

Are we still getting writing for HBR? Is GoW trying to get writing by trading myst?


Lets try to remember GoW proposal and apply it to our pet nation VOx. It could help out alot.

What was this about a HBR for Writing trade?

Look at the Trades thread. It's all there! What Calc (probably) means is that not Gow, but WE are going to trade for Writing with RP. In our case, for Horseback Riding.

Somehow, the GoW-RP deal on Horseback Riding for Writing was cancelled. I don't know why. It seems that they want Mysticism now to trade for Writing (or add it to their side of the deal).

The fact is that Vox, and therefore we, will not have Mysticism for a long time (probably >20 turns).

What to do about this?

First, do not tell GoW that we have a HBR-Writing deal with RP, which we hope to hold.

Second, try to get info from GoW why they think they can get Writing, while they themselves stated that the deal with RP was off.

Third, IF they are interested in Mysticism (I would guess so): try to get 12 x 5gpt = 60 gold from it, but warn them that it might take a while.

Just tell them its not doable. (we can lie like, in order to get 5 turn earlier, it costs 2 gpt on the slider, or something to the effect where GoW wont be willing to pay) Or just keep silent until we get writing.

We can apply same idea of gpt for vox. I think us recieving gpt from them is hurting their tech research... which ultimately hurts us. We should be paying them 1 gpt not recieving from later on. Gow came up with a very interesting economic idea.

Also, Ghengis said that they'd be willing to trade us HBR for IW, but only if we wouldn't trade HBR to Roleplay. I need answers on both of these issues fairly soon.

About Mysticism:
try to either:

• trade it for 60 gold (or 3 gpt for 20 turns);
• trade it for Mathematics;

Trading for Mathematics is a one-sided deal (in our favour), but don't tell them that. We might throw in some gold there.

Just do not forget to tell them that we will not have Mysticism in the next 10 turns.

About Ghengis' comments:

• Did he just say that he has a deal with RP not to trade them HBR?
• It would be nice to have GoW on our side against ND;
• It is hard for us to promise that we will not trade HBR to RP. We need Writing from RP. That is why I propose to go on with all trades, but at the same time, spread the rumour that RP has contact with another Civ. Since we will not be trading HBR to RP immediately after we get it, we then can convince GoW that RP got HBR from that Civ.

This is the official agreement, as outlined by the previous meeting between LI and GoW, witnessed by BigFurryMonster and Trip of Lux Invicta, and GhengisFarb of Glory of War:

Lux Invicta hereby trades Iron Working to GoW in exchange for Horseback Riding this turn (2270 BC), with the assurance that Lux Invicta will not trade Horseback Riding to the Roleplay Team until after a deal has been worked out between the two teams.

The second part of the deal is as follows: GoW will trade Mathematics (which it will acquire from Neu Demogyptica in about 10 turns) to LI when it recieves it, and LI will trade Mysticism to GoW as soon as it has it. GoW is expected to reveal knowledge of this deal to no one but ND, and only if they ask for such information.

This document under these terms have been officially agreed to by officials holding authority on both teams.

We will get an assurance from Roleplay that we will trade Mathematics to them for Writing (making positive that ND does not trade them Math first... we have to secure this deal, at the very least). We are working on causing a rift between GoW and Roleplay (without lying, or placing ourselves in a situation where we are the ultimate cause of conflict), so that we may possibly trade HBR to RP, and keep math for a later trade.

This is the best outcome on all fronts... even if things end up working out between GoW and RP, we still end up with Writing soon, and we can later trade Mysticism to RP for Map Making, or some other similar deal. A diplomatic triumph orchestrated by BFM and myself, under guidance from our foreign ministry department.
