  • Committee of Exploration, Growth and Expansion (CEGE)

    I'm official founding the 'Committee of Exploration, Growth and Expansion' (CEGE).

    The CEGE will be given the task of finding new lands to settle, and to find the best way to settle them. The primary members as of now are myself (of course ) and BFM, being that he's Minister of the Interior.

    The reason I'm founding the CEGE is because the issues it deals with are the most important to our country right now, and will be for some time. This deserves the attention of a body solely designed to deal with it.

    The main things it will consider for now will be which locations to place city, taking terrain, resources and location into mind. Shortly, however, it will also deal with overseas expansion... the land on our continent is quite limited. We are packed in with GoW and NDE with the ocean to our east and a thick jungle to our south. The only other option we have is to look to other continents. Getting Map Making from Roleplay should be a priority, as should be exploring the seas of our world.

    It will likely be a race to see who can find the unoccupied continents... our overseas possessions may make the difference between victory and defeat in the long run.

    Anyone who wants to join the committee is free to join. Myself or another member will periodically post committee reports to fill everyone in on what we're up to.

    Trip,
    Lux Invicta Administrator, Roleplay, GoW and NDE diplomat, CEGE chairperson.

    Well, it seems that I do not have to apply anymore. I suggest we start thinking about the exact location of city #3 when our settler is almost done.

      Glad to see that you're motivated BFM.

      This is my proposed location for a city, city tile 1 being Regio, and 2 being my proposed new city tile:

      It's on top of a shielded tile, but it will have 2 cattle and 2 shielded tiles to use nearby even before it expands culturally, along with another shielded tile, some hills and forest for later on when we have irrigation. Quite simply, it will be the crown jewel of our empire, along with forming a good border with GoW. Build too far north or south and GoW can fit another city in, compromising the perfect spot.

        Eh... :

        * I do not see any shielded tile underneath it;

        * I can only see 1 cattle there;

        * There is a 'black spot' which may or may not hold good terrain.

        It =is= a good site. I'm not sure whether it is close enough to our capital, though.

          We could move city 1 sqaure to the SE, get a little less corruption, and found the city one turn sooner. If we didn't need a high food city NOW, I'd say do that as it would probably be better in the long turn. But given the current situation,. I's say the location shown is the best one available.

            This is cool, I have deadly responses to everything everyone has said today.

            My "2" is covering it up, sorry.

            It's a cattle tile, trust me, I can see the outline of it since I'm used to that graphics mod.

            Any further away and we potentially lose 1 or more of those cattle tiles, knowing how desperate all the teams on our continent are for land.

            Forgive me, the map isn't updated... the road we've built to Regio allows us to get to my proposed city site as soon as yours.

                If you are right about the graphics: if I make my own graphics and add some unique colours or patterns at the edges of every tile, I will be able to "see" all adjacent black tiles, won't I?

                Hmm...

                  I think I prefer Yellow over Orange here: 1 extra shielded tile nearby, and a bit closer to Invictus.

                    That tile will work also.

                    They're both the same distance from the road, and we won't be covering up that one shielded tile. Also, no chance for GoW to fit a city in anywhere.

                      Was about to propose the same thing, BFM. it still grabs the 2 cattles and we settle on non-shielded land. Cities produce2/1/1 by default anyway so no point in settling on shielded grassland.

                      In addition, less overlapping with Regio eqorum and we can work forest for additional shield when necessary.
                      :-p

                        I like the yellow square best. It'll give us good position and have less overlap with our other cities.

                          Then the official decision of CEGE is to build a city in the yellow tile.

                            Until the circumstances change again, of course

                              I agree Yellow tile is best. One question. What is the chance GoW could grab it before us. I'm sure they see the value of that land too.
