  • Game Report 2670 BC

Continued exploring with the exploring warriors. 2nd went south, 1st went north, 3rd went north-west.

We made contact with Vox. Yay for us!

Our settler-spearman pair landed on our proposed city tile... a similar NDE pair is just south of us.

OH JESUS CHRIST!!! That doesn't look good. This world isn't big enough for both us and NDE.

          Brief review of current situation:

1.NDE is currently trying to occupy horse plain. For naming sake, I'll dubb it as a "unicorn" from now on. Their current location does not contain horse within city square. We have arrived at the "unicorn" and is currently occupying the forest on the "unicorn". NDE is south of us and river runs across between us.

2.RP has openly discussed about our alliance with GoW. Seems like its not a secret alliance after all. So GoW knows we have alliance with RP. In addition GoW has expressed cordial attitude toward us. They mentioned too good to hear phrases like "allying" and "getting rid of NDE".

3.We have made contact with vox controli. Because of Apoc's absence, I took control over talks with Voxians. Anyway nothign much happened except I revealed our possession of pottery. I am waiting to see what they will reveal in return. After I get them talking, I may or may not reveal we have two more techs.

Effect of these events on our soverign nation

          1. I half expected this when Trip announced the date when settler was created for NDE. If they started moving the settler immediately this should have happened and it did. However this has a little effect on our success of attaining the horse. Even if they settle south of "unicorn" the next turn, the city square does not include the horse. Then we can counter by moving 1 square north and settling with horse in immediate vicinity. If they move even one turn, we can settle on the immediate spot that we are in, thus securing the horse in the unicorn field.

2.The effect of this is that now the alliance is open, its a double whammy for NDE who is currently trying to occupy "unicorn". If they take even one little hostile steps, they would be facing us and RP. (with possibility of GoW joingin triple alliance!)

          3. We have sole contact of the new world (i shall call it voxia). This brings serious advantage to us as we can middleman the techs we acquire to Vox Controli for some serious profit

The horse plain. Either way we will get it and we have enough leverage diplomacy wise that NDE will not attempt to attack to get it back.

The allaince. Personally im not too pleased that they told GoW about the alliance. But since Go is on decent terms with us and has a non-agression pact it wont hurt us for the time being and will likely put further clamps on NDE. It could potentially be a polarizing mechanism once the pact with GoW ends, so we will haev to watch it closely. As long as we have sole contact with vox we will have a nice advantage.

I don't fully trust RP yet, they do seem to like Gossipping, being RPG writing guys, but they seem nice people. They appear to be friendly with GoW too, they may try and play us off against one another.. Divide and Conquer is a good way to win this game.

              VOX CONTROLLI:
I've found building an outpost on coast to look into sea enemy coastal areas can be useful, though only if we expand our empire more towards VOXes area.
              Something to think about soon.

Yes, we will have to watch RP closely, though even if and when our alliance falls apart, they still have no reason to attack us (it's too far away). They would simply be hoping that we end up fighting to a standstill with someone while they develop.

Given the terrain we have. An outpost or two may be very useful. Especially in regards to NDE, in addition to Vox. If we can put one is a location where we can see 3-4 squares into NDE territory, it may allow us to see a potential invasion before it happens, we will have see how the cultural borders line up before we consider this though. I am all for building a fort looking towards Vox in any case, once we have developed enough our land with our industrious workers that we can spare one.
