  • Emergency City Plan Mk. II

With the discovery of a source of horses rather far away from us, and the fact that GoW has built a city on the WEST side of their
capital, and not towards us, a new emergency city plan has been enacted. Here is the proposal (the red tiles are just ideas, pay
attention to the blue, green and yellow again). The blue is the first candidate, green the second and yellow the 3rd. This will
seal off most of our border.

This will give us some growth due to the cattle, but I think it is very ambitious. The good thing is that GoW does not know our location yet, so we may get away with it.

Yes, that's our bonus... if we can keep them away long enough then we'll be able to land a city in the green tile before they do.

We NEED those horses. So the blue square has to be our second city. As for our third city. The green if possible. If not then go for the the NW red square (I highly doubt GoW would them settle to the square directly to our west, it would be too risky culturally). Of course we will know where the Iron is before our 3rd settler is built and this may alter our city placement.

Go for the blue site. Those horses MUST be secured. Yellow would be a secondary priority.

And how do we know that GoW has a second city? I can't see any other black borders, aside from those around their capital.

I talked with Panzer32 and he said they've built a city a couple tiles to the north-west of their capital.

One Good thing about our location is that unhappiness is not likely to be too much of an issue, with 3 lux we are guaranteed to get and a within reach unless NDE feels they have to expand that way relatively early on.

And there might be more on the hunk of land to the north or to the east.

Shouldn't we be more aggressive toward achieving the wine luxury near the blue site? If we build on the blue square, then we won't be able to secure the wine. I say move the blue site one square to the west.

Also, if we want to secure the yellow site, then we will need troups to patrol and protect that area.

we have a wine to the northen part of our province. I think we should stick to the safer, closer settling site rather than expand farther with risks. 2 Wine could prove to be useful, but not when it could be dangerous. Besides, sticking closer to cattle could secure that and prevent NDE from wedging into our empire.

Right, didn't see that wine resource...besides, here's another reason to keep that sight where it is:

GoW wouldn't like it any closer

The current blue tile nearly overextends us as it is... any further and the city would be close to undefendable in the case of a conflict. Sandwiched between GoW and NDE, it wouldn't have a chance. Also, like Calc said, we already have wines, which is sufficient.

Just keep in mind we shouldn't expand too agressively towards GoW.

I would even consider pulling back the settling site a little bit. NDE can reach within the horse plain site in 4-5 turns. Perhaps East of horse square or east of current blue square... But thats IF it looks like NDE is heading towards it.
