Glory of War appear to have become less of a threat, they are chinese, and their millitaristic ability may be of use.
We could use them as mercenaries againt such dangerous civs as NDE , though we can not trust them a lot yet.

I have spoken with GoW's ambassador Panzer (canadian)
and now think we could do a deal with them precontact.

I would like to be Ambassador with GoW for now, they aren't contacted yet, but they may be important.

We should swap minimaps with GoW , real minimaps, not faked.
Then the deal is we send out a contact party, one spearman and warrior possibly, maybe a settler? to meet GoW halfway between our nations, so we quickly make ingame contact.
I proposed to GoW that we make fixed borders around each nation, and if they enter our border we see it as an act of war unless we give permission for passage(RightOfPassage?).
We could continue our scouting towards their nation, to find a quick route there.. though we don't want to lose our contact party.

I fear GoW may be making some deals with NDE, I received GoW's first PM message no earlier than Monday, but when i said they were doing deals with them, they just paused and asked who said that... which points towards them having a deal done with ND.

I don't know how far GoW are, they will find where we are from someone else.

Theres one problem , a caveat, they seem to say that if we don't exchange maps, they will not ally with us against our enemies (no mercenary deals).

I DO suggest we edit our minimap to only show our capital and its working area, with a little explored west.. I said we were doing exploring and might need our units , so wouldn't be able to send for contact right away (in truth we are being on the defensive against NDE).
We could send our northern warrior scout to make contact , though it may need transport with a ship.
Ideally we'd send a fast horse unit, NDE's scouts might try the same.

Info: GoW asked what techs NDE had, I said we might be able to tell them.. which maybe shows i'm in contact with them, but this will make GoW think carefully before invading us.
I said I would trade info with GoW for their info, like who they were trading maps and who was paying for their mercenaries yet, but only deals up to the point of our trade. They were interested in info on NDE, like what techs they had. We don't really want GoW conquering NDE , they are too hostile to be neighbours, but arguably less than NDE.

I suggest Trip asks NDE through their ambassadors about GoW too, to confirm GoW's info.

We could try minimap trading with others, maybe NDE if possible.

I suggested a 12tile boundary from our capital and theirs for now.. but we should make this a minimum so we can see more of their lands.

I will get in contact with our friends, GS and maybe Vox (betahound). Ambassadors for these teams should talk with them about any deals with GoW or any other info.

We want to win this game, it is not a Tea Party, so maybe we need millitary alliances.

and I think we'll just get played by GoW, if they are near NDE. That must mean NDE and GoW already have soemthing going with them.

This goes for Vox as well because they are high on list of third civilization who started near NDE.

If GoW is interested in minmap trade, this only enforces my belief that GoW may be the third civ.

They probably have contact with NDE. They probably suspect we have contact with NDE. Therefore they proably also suspect they may be close to us. NDE probably is tight lipped about this against us and GoW.

Therefore GoW may be feeling a little blinded just as I am.

We shouldn't trust GoW. While it would be nice to have an 'ally' on the opposite side of NDE, you can never trust mercenaries. Try to keep them friendly, but we don't want to put ourselves in a position where GoW would have all the tools necassary to invade us...

Honestly, I believe we are !#$%%^ NDE got the early diplomatic jump on us and possibly everyone else, and they've successfully exploited this position. As the Ottomans, I'm thinking that we're going to become a popular target soon.

Our only option is to expand and build up our military and pray that something happens to break up the early diplomatic pacts...

No doubt, any minimap exchange would only benefit NDE and their partners. We should proceed with only tech trades if any are allowed...

I'm thinking that we may be locked out of trades with the civs that have been approached by NDE already.

Maybe I should stall, and say we're on Christmas holiday in Luxia, our Foreign OFfices will open on the 26th.

I think the map trading is out, but we might be able to trade info about NDE for some of GoW's info.
I see GoW as a good target to conquer really, and we want to stop them getting Riders.
We probably couldn't trust them even if we 'hired' them as mercenaries, ghengis is a bit unstable anyhow :P
If,in the future, you see that statement Ghengis, I meant your probably an agreessive player in this.

We should try and do a similar contact deal with an other team, GS and maybe Vox seem quitefriendly, possible allies. Need to tread carefully though, and not give away too much.

Yes, try to stall for time so that we can discuss this issue a bit more. My personal opinion is that GoW needs to prove that we can trust them. An eventual cordial reply along the lines of "how can we trust you, and what benefits can friendly relations with you bring us?" would probably be in our best interests.
