  • Foreign Policy Rules & Guideline:

This thread has been created large in response to the first diplomacy experience we had with the Neu Demogyptica. We experienced a sucessful neogtiation, but to minmize slip-ups and confusion in all future diplomatic talks, I hereby propose a Diplomatic rules and conduct. I propose this bill to be passed ASAP. This bill is still in its rough draft, so feel free to add comments on this post. Once the bill has been settled, I will create a finalized version and hopefully Trip will top that thread.

Diplomacy Rules: (These must be obeyed)
    1. Members will not intentionally give out any intelligence. This is considered treason.
    2. Members will not make any agreements with foreign civilization without the leader's approval.
    3. RPing is forbidden during summit with other nations.
    4. Do not discuss the event of diplomacy with foreigners outside of the summit unless you are told to do so.
    5. Only official representatives may speak during the chat. This includes our glorious leader(Trip), Our wise foreign minister(AdmiralPJ) and the ambassador to whomever nation we are dealing with. Other ambassadors or members may be granted rights to speak if needs arise.
    6. Use a secluded chatroom to talk to members. Conference is reserved strictly for discussing diplomacy.

Diplomacy Guidelines: (These should be followed in order for diplomacy to run smoothly)
    1. Lux Invicta strongly urges you to attend the meetings and participate.
    2. To minimize slip ups by unintentionally giving away intelligence to foreigners, always discuss what you might say on the Diplomatic table on private chat before you proceed.
    3. Goes with number two. To minimize confusion and spamming during diplomatic procedure, discuss who will say what in secluded chatroom.
    4. Deny any knowledge if foreigners attempt to ask you questions. It's better to pretend you aren't aware than to slip up any critical information.
    5. Try not to be to eager and obvious when you are withholding intelligence. Keep a poker face.... errr finger is more like it for online, I guess.

    Looks good to me.

Right now we have a strong diplomatic advantage, especially over NDE. We do not want to compromise our situation in any manner by accidentally leaking information, or making any diplomatic discussions more difficult than they ought to be.

One addition might be to have only one representative talking to foreign diplomats at once... 4 people at the same time doesn't give the best impression.

Yes, include Trip's comment and this is a good plan.

      However, what's wrong with roll-playing?

We had a slight mishap with NDs during first diplomatic chat. Since Borc isn't a native speaker, I think he misunderstood some of AdmiralPJ's sarcasm. Sarcasm doesnt carry well online and in order to prevent possible confusion as well as spam, lets keep RPing outside of the table... (You can always do it in #Apolyton chat with the other teams, just not in official table.)

also, made some minor changes to the bill.

Yes, RP is better in a more controlled environment like the forum, where you can better use smilies and spend more time making sure people discern the tone of your post before posting it. Inside diplomacy/chat, it really becomes needless spam that gets in the way of the true goal and might confused people (native english speaker or not).

Good guidelines. Remove the member names from it and it will be usable in the future (under a different government).

Who was in the chat, anyway?

Myself, Calc II, Admiral PJ and CiverDan were involved in the discussion with Borc. Most of my negotiations were done privately though to avoid spam and confusion within the chatroom.

You might also want to change those colors Calc, they're not the prettiest to look at.

sorry... what kind of poly theme is everyone using? I forgot that if someone is using the white format and had i used light grey as one of the text, they wouldnt be able to see it while I would be. I'll consider something like that next time.
