  • Future City Sites?

It seems we have a lot of plains to work with/around. What does this do to our future city location plans?

Take a look at the website to see the screenshot of the area that we're sitting in. Lots of hills, lots of plains. BFM, what's your take on things?

My take is that this is not too great to settle in...

      That doesn't help any.

There might be a good site to the south of where 1st Warrior is.

Ou 2nd city should be NW either 2 or 3 sqaure, depending on how tight of a build we want. It will be on the river and have grassland to work with. Beyond that we will need some more exploring...

I'm sorry, you're right, Trip. A better analysis of the situation:

To the east, there seem to be some pieces of Coast. Let's assume that we're blocked off on that side, and have no direct contenders there.

To the west, our warrior has spotted some grasslands. That is nice to grow from. CiverDan is right that it would be nice to build our 2nd city on the river.

So I say - go west with the Settler and build a city on the river tile NW-NW-N of Invictus (NW of the spices) IF there is a second bonus grassland nearby. Maybe our 2nd warrior can check that ..?

When we build fairly tight, we'll profit from low corruption at the start of the game.

Maximize our settling square to be plains away from fresh water as much as we can. City square gets equal 2/1/1 (F/S/T) no matter where you settle. Try to avoid settling on grassland for the ming+irrigating bonus later.

              I like this idea.
That's probably the best city spot that's accessable to us right now. Both Invictus and the as-yet named new city would have access to 3 grassland tiles, 1 shielded for the new city, and 2 for Invictus (one of which overlaps with the new city). This keeps things fairly compact, and allows us good land to use once we cut some forest tiles down as well.

Having seen the new situation (3550 BC) - maybe we can scare that Demogyptica Settler away from that grassland area and settle it for ourselves? There's an animal nearby (with Trip's graphics - what is it? cattle?), one big river and some bonus grass squares.

Yes, that's a cattle resource. Being on top of plains, that tile would generate 2 food 2 shields and 1 commerce by default.

If we can scare him away, then that's good, I'd agree with that as a city spot.

Put the 2nd city on that hill just south of the first warrior's current location. Cattle, plains, and hills with lots of potential production and resources. Think of the hordes of Sepahi we could build from such a city!!!

This is definitely a good city spot... we must negotiate for it...

I agree that is a very good location for our 2nd city. Additionally, It is in a very defendable location.

We dont even need to negotiate for it. Our warrior's presence is more than enough have unofficially claimed the land

Good point Praetorian! You'll make a fine general when we have a few more troups

Sometimes it's appropriate to negotiate with the hint of force, ie. the warrior on the hill sends a powerful statement, perhaps we could build an archer later to secure the location?

Do we all agree that we build the city by thet river?
Someone could maybe make a poll on which exact square to use??
