• BC 4000 (Accelerated Production Problem)

In the PTWDemoGame Forum, people have realized that "somewhere in the chain" of the first turn, the accelerated production option was turned to "on". They are now wondering if the person from our team did this (it is either our team, the team after us, or a bug that caused this).

If it is our team, we may be able to re-play our turn, this time not touching the 'accelerated production' option. AND - we can have a decent, yet quick, decision about where to found our first city!

I'd like to hear from the person who played our turn about this!

Good luck. CiverDan isn't online right now. (Worse, he's been e-mailed the save and doesn't know it. Check the main forum.)

Ask Eli to mail you the save. That way, we can play the turn.
oh god how did this get here I am not good with livejournal

I found the email, replayed the turn ans sent it. Read the "our city site" thread for comments on acc prod issue.

OK, great! As pointed out there, the move was (IMHO) a good one (though I would have played differently).

This is why we have team decisions, to decide upon the best decision. The first one was made somewhat impromptu, but from now on that won't be the case, since we'll always be prepared beforehand from now on.

This was posted in the Civ3PTWDemoForum, and might be nice to know:

The savegame we received from Lux Invicta was fine, I think. Legoland turn has been replayed and sent to Gathering Storm (to nye, that is).

I have played a bit with the loading procedures and here is what I have found out (using 1.14f):

Using the "NYE procedure", it IS possible to corrupt the savegame, inadvertently switching the AP on. If you have the AP on when selecting "Load Game" from the Multiplayer Setup screen, the game will become AP positive. It does not matter if you just leave your default on, or if you manually switch the AP off an on prior to loading the savegame. If it is on, it will be set on in the game.
Unfortunately, this process is not reversible. You cannot "repair" a game that has the AP flag on by simply switching the AP setting off on your MP setup screen and loading the corrupted AP-positive savegame. I tried it with the original (corrupted) Lux Invicta savegame and the AP remained on.
The procedure suggested by the printed manual works just fine. Fire up Civ3, select Load Game from the Main Menu and off you go. Retains all the settings properly.
My conclusions (feel free to comment):

The file got corrupted by being loaded using the NYE procedure, having the AP setting in the MP setup screen on. That is apparently the only way to corrupt the savegame under 1.14f.
The Regent setting was there either from the very beginning or crept in just like the AP did. The way to find out is to have Neu Demogyptica check the 4000BC save they got from nye/GS, using the standard load procedure from the Main Menu.
We shall use the standard, guide-suggested load procedure, using the Load Game function of the Main Menu. NYE procedure messes things up, if used improperly (and it's rather difficult to say, what "improperly" actually means).
Everybody receiving a savegame shall check what difficulty level is displayed upon loading the savegame and whether the AP is on or not - just to make sure that we notice problems ASAP.
Why would anyone ever upload the game any other way than the standard

Well - there seem to be two "standard" ways.

Oh, I meant the natural way, as in double click the game icon, skip the intro and then click on the Load Game button???

I think it's loading the game from the Multiplayer screen.

Ahhh....well, that's the problem, you shouldn't do it that way....
