  • Unit Naming Convention?

Since in PTW we now have the option to name any of our units whatever we like, how will we name them?

I have to admit I'm a bit boring in that category, and usually in most games I go by "1st Warrior, 2nd Warrior, 1st Spearman" kind of convention. How do you guys think we should name our units?

One idea would be to name them by place of origin and type. So the third Sipahi we produce at Istanbul would be "3rd Istanbul Sipahi". Of course, we'd have to decide what to name each type of unit (would tanks be "tanks" or "armored Sipahi"? would Knights be "light Sipahi" or something to that effect?)

Of course, leader-generating units would get special names. For example, if a unit generates Suleiman (don't know all their leader names; haven't played as them yet), the unit would be renamed "Suleiman's Brigade" or "Suleiman's Division" or somesuch. We could give Elites special names, as well (1st Elite Sipahi, 2nd Elite Sipahi, etc.)...
oh god how did this get here I am not good with livejournal

Elites should have the invictus adjective on their name... but I really dont give about the petty troops

Now the first army has to be named sho-oh gi (EVA 01)

      Followed by the rest. (00, 02, 03, 04, 05-12......)

I like using more honorable connotations...

        "1st Div. Emperor's Hand"
        "King's Guard"
        Etc...

I propose that we use the standard ("1st Warrior", "5th Siphai") naming convention for all regular units, but add a special title to ones that rise to elite or beyond ("1st Warrior Trip's Elite Guard" ).

I don't even bother naming regular units...only when they spawn a leader...

Well, I guess we can call it Trip's Elite guard for now if ya want... The name should be named after the president in power.

I'm no good with latin but shouldn't we add the adjective "invincible" in latin for our Elite guard? Since our name is Lux Invicta...

                Good point.
I'm sure we'll decide upon some way to name our elite units when the time comes.

Can other teams see the name? In that case, best not reveal where/when they have been produced.

All units that have produced a leader recieve a star next to their name, no matter if you gave them a new one or not. So, unfortunately, unless you disband the elite unit before it makes contact with the enemy, then they will have a chance to discover this. There is not much chance of hiding it, so you might as well celbrate it!!!
