  • Steal Technology?

Do you want to make most of being able to steal technology so that we can supplement on other necessary techs while nose diving on a goal or do you want to get techs from different branch and limit steal tech and supplement thru trade?

If you can steal tech... Not only you may be able to get i cheaper you undercut the opponent's benefit of having been able to have gotten something out of you. Thus you're strengthening yourself at the same time weakening them.

There is a risk with human player though, Im just not sure how they will react.

We need to play the diplomacy card well here. Humans will be must more responsive to diplomatic decisions. For example, the Glory of War team already starts out with a disadvantage, and Legoland starts with an advantage in that department.

If we make some enemies, then stealing may be acceptable (hopefully we'll find ourselves in a position where we'll be on top anyways). However, until we find ourselves in a supreme world position, we'll have to watch ourselves, and bringing on such an event would hurt our reputation, and might even lead to war (who knows? Human teams won't be predictable).

So basically we have to play diplomacy well. Stealing techs may be a bit too risky until we know getting caught won't matter.

If we steal from the AI, will the other teams know? Will only the AI not like us after that?

Only the AI teams will know, but from the looks of things right now, I don't think there will be any AI teams...

In certain situations it may be OK. But if we get too aggresive with then then other human player may turn on us more than we want them too. There is a fine line between simply playing aggresive and being overagressive

We need a good foreign relations party. Anything we do, our reputation will be a big factor since humans are not programmed to act a certain way. In many cases they are more easier to forgive or harder to regain trust.

Should we decide to steal tech from a human and we ultimately fail, we need a good social talker who can ease the relations by saying something like "I assure you our country was agst the idea but their was some rotten apples that temporarily mob controlled our govt" or something crafty I can't do.

Any bad decision our government decides to do, we must not leave responsibility to our governement. Publicity is important. We have to shield our governments reputation just as the japanese government protected their emperor's innocence at all cost. Hopefully we don't get caught doing any mischievous acts or even have to resort to such things, but should we be caught. NEVER blame the team! Take the responsibility all to yourself if you have to!

Why do they start with a(n) (dis)advantage?

I concur totally with Trip. Steeling, especially from human players always brings on a war. Face it, why were you steeling if you weren't already in a desparate position? Wars should be made, not suffered. In otherwords, it's infinately better to start a war than to throw off the invader. You also don't want to start one when you're unprepared.

Steeling is a bad idea. I'd rather be neutral or friendly for as long as possible. The Glory of War will go down ASAP in my opinion, followed by the GS, Legoland, if they play like builders will probably be the last target. We, unfortunately will have to face the reality of being an early target in the game, especially in the ancient era. We will have to extremely diplomatically conscious here. We will also have to play more defensive. Fighting only for required luxuries and resources. Naturally, if we can't get 15 good cities, then Libenzraum comes into effect.

I say again, instigation of unnecessary wars in the ancient era will be our downfall, especially against human players.

                      That's Lebensraum my friend.

But yes, the point is clear. We must be careful and bide our time until we're ready to dominiate!

Yes, let cooler heads prevail, and let the enemies destroy each other while we prepare our mechanations of war!

This is why I emphasize strongly on a good ministry of foreign relations and Department of propaganda. Anyone with good oratory skill up for being an ambassador? We need slick talkers like you that can convince the world we are the next best thing to Mr. Rogers.

I'm afraid that I'm way too blunt with the way I interact with people. I'd be bound to get us into a war without even knowing I said anything wrong.

No one seems to want the job of Foreign Minister...but I think I have read from at least a few people on our team who'd be good at it....I think I might be a little too long-winded at times...We would need someone who was subtle, consice, and a low-profile manipulator...
