Okay, there's been a (relatively) big debate over which tech we should research first, so here's the poll. Read this thread for the arguments for each side: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=67629
    6
    The Wheel
    16.67%
    1
    Iron Working
    83.33%
    5
    Other
    0.00%
    0

    The poll is expired.

We must take advantage of our scientific advantage. Everyone will research the wheel, and the Japanese might even be out there. Seriously, I've been playing several games as the Persians w/o Immortals at the very beginning, and those industrious workers just keep your cities very close knit. We will be able to build spearmen quickly. Research Iron Working.

I am thinking Iron Working soley because we'd probably be able to trade for the Wheel as soon as we make contact with another civ.

One other thing I've just noticed is the abundance of horses in most of my games. Iron is far more scarce. Thus, iron will likely be easier to gain a monopoly on, and everyone will probably have horses anyway.

Go with Iron Working. I only go for the wheel before iron working if I have an early horse UU and/or I dont have bronze working.

Do we only have six people on this team now? The colour poll started at the same time, and it only has four votes.

I believe that the poll time doesn't last long enough to capture the entire team's opinion...

My thoughts being well documented by now, I say I'm behind the final decision, and will do my best to help our team make the best of what ever course we choose.

We are dealing with a celt (possibly) they will for sure plunge into iron working ASAP. If other indecisive team like Legoland chooses Persia or Rome we will have more reasons to go for wheel. Most teams will go for iron working ASAP IMO unless they are japan (duh  ) If we can get into early contact we might be able to offer civs that dont have wheel yet for iron working or more.
