Unfortunately we won't gain much early on in our shift to republic, but here's how I see it coming (these are just quick estimates though we should set up a scenario to more accurately determine where we stand)
We will gain about 35 commerce before corruption (estimate Panama 6, Legopolis 5, Jackson 7, RedBricks 3, Forkmouth 3 or 4, Farmerville 4 or 5, Karina 2 or 3, Zargonia 2 (3 shortly after), Logville 2 (3 shortly after)
We should gain back some of our 10 corrupted commerce - not sure how much, but let's say 5 or 6 for arguments sake.
We will have to pay about 25 gold for our units (estimating that we will add some horsemen, mercs and a warrior to the mix at least from the current 21)
So 35+6=41-25=16 more net commerce per turn
Currently have 32 commerce + 35 + say 5 or 6 from city growth - we should have about 72-73 commerce per turn. So we will need about 25 gold about 33% of the commerce - so we can probably survive a 40 gold/60 science split.
The other concern is what will we do without the military police option. Since most of the cities have only 1 MP now, the cities connected to the dye should be ok. The problems will be the cities to the south (especially Farmerville) and Jackson (which will be at size 6). The options are either entertainers or a luxury rate amount.
So we might have to go with either a 10L/40G/50S or even 20L/40G/40S rates.
40% of 72 would be 29 beakers (admittedly an estimate since it is based on a city basis), 50% would be about 32 - so we may have a slight decline in beakers from our current levels.
On the other hand, since we might be getting mucho dineros from GoW and others for tech trades, we might be able to use that money to either rush production or have a higher science rate and use this money to pay for the per turn expenses.
However, we will also lose about 3 turns of research as we will be in anarchy when we change governments (means that GS will narrow our tech lead a little bit since they will have none - or RP or ND either unfortunately)
I would say that we will need to get some marketplaces and libraries up and running in some of our major cities especially Legopolis once we reach republic as well.
