Hi guys, just want to collate a bit of info here....

Nimitz, as we all know is doing a great job with the RP team who are happily talking away.

ZargonX is going back to eh GOW team to try and get a bit more chatty with them.

What about the rest, the other teams not talking? If any of the ambassadors is too busy let me know and I'll take over temporarily.

    Thanks guys
    Si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses

I think I responed to this same question in another post. I am still doing the ambassodors job with Lux Invicta. I have had no offers from them and we have not offered anything to them. I monitor their public thread, but it's just trash talking, spam, and is way off subject.

I have had a fair amount of correspondence with the GS Ambassador, unfortunatly I was unable to access the internet when the mini-map negotiations were happening and there has not been much to discuss since the then.

I have sent a diplomatic letter to Panzer32 of GoW. Haven't heard back from him yet, but I'll post as soon as I do.
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

OK, I am trying to bring the ambassador-related discussion here, rather than having it mixed with out O2E (Operation Double Edge) discussion.

There is something I would like to say about ambassadorial positions and the duties/activities of ambassadors. It has not been said/suggested anywhere yet, so it is not meant as a complaint targeted at the ambassadors that currently do not do that!

As Nimitz's outstanding performace has shown, having information is absolutely vital. Without his intelligence, I would never even think of O2E, since we would have no idea how other teams are doing, what contacts they have, what they plans likely are (and what they probably don't intend to) etc.

You may have noticed that Nimitz does not post here so often (and if he does, his posts tend to be quite brief, usually leaving it to me or redstar1 to post the news he has brought), which might suggest he is not that active. Well, just the contrary is true - only he prefers reporting to me and redstar1 in the chatroom. That is absolutely fine, perhaps preferrable for ambassadors - subtle nuances of the instructions regarding talks with other teams are much better solved quickly in an online chat than through the forum. Even if you are not fond of chatting, perhaps fearing cancer and such , dropping in and checking if there is anything needed should not kill you... Also, it seems that having a nice chat with an ambassador from another team every once in a while usually nets us much more information than any number of PMs... as PMs are usually heavily edited and rewritten before being sent. While in a live chat, people are less careful, often leaking something they would probably omit on the second thought, if put into a PM.

For a precisely defined action, like proposing a minimap deal, it seems that asking the ambassador to take care of it may be little bit awkward at times, especially if the ambassador in question is not frequenting our forum every day. The FM can as well send the proposal himself, speeding the deal up... OTOH, neither me nor redstar1 have time enough to maintain active contacts with all other teams. For chit-chats that help us learn so much about the outer world, our ambassadors are (or should be) invaluable.

I certainly understand that not all other teams are willing to talk us much as RPers are to Nimitz. But working on establishing a really useful contact with someone from the other team is a long-term goal all our ambassadors should start working on. All the teams (maybe with the exception of Voxes) are already willing to talk to some extent... even ND exchanged minimaps with us.

Having ambassadors as "message carriers" only would be pretty much degrading them to an inferior role... We need active, relatively independent ambassadors that will actively gather intelligence and spread (mis)information on our behalf.

Speaking of this, I believe there is a crucial document we need. redstar1, I believe you should put together a list of do's and dont's for our ambassadors, so that they know what kind of information they are free to give or "leak" and what kind of information is strictly confidential. If there is such a document (it should be sort of a summary of our general foreign policy), our ambassadors would be much better able to maintain active contacts, as they would always know what they are free to talk about about and what must be kept secret. Including goals we have, mentioning the intelligence and foreign affairs goals would certainly not hurt either.

Such a document (its thread, I mean) would also be a good place to discuss our foreign policy.
