  • Nomination thread for 2nd term government

The "Magna Chartaginia" is ready and almost ratified, so it's time to move ahead and elect our 2nd term government, the first legal one!

This is the thread for nominating people for ministerial positions. Current ministers will be automatically nominated if don't step down.

    ----------

    NOMINATIONS

    President
    - Vondrack

Note: the current President, Jack, is stepping down so he's not a candidate

    Master Builder
    - ZargonX (in office)

    Foreign Advisor
    - Redstar

Note: the current FA, Vondrack, is running for Presidency, so he's not a candidate

    The Enlightened
    - Spiffor (in office)

    Military Architect
    - Tiberius

Note: the current MA, Redstar, is running for FA, so he's not a candidate

    ----------

I will update this first post with the most current nominations. People will be added to this list after they officially accept the nomination.

I took as granted the nominations proposed earlier in other thraeds, like Vondrack for Presidency and Redstar for FA.

    I hope nobody's against this.

      Tibi for Military Architect

Well, keeping the spirit of posting in (almost) all our threads (the post count thing, ya know... Emperor is going to need some serious effort... ). I would like to post something here, too... well... ok, I hereby accept my nomination for the President... wait, I said that before, that would bee too cheap... hm... ok, I know what!

Just kidding... I am very serious about that I want to nominate Tiberius for the Military Architect! Over the two months of the game, he has proved himself to be very active in discussing movement of our units and often contributed by suggesting improvements over my proposals and correcting my mistakes. This is not to say that there would not be others participating, but as I can nominate just one candidate (or may I nominate more than one?), it will be Tiberius.

EDIT: if I am allowed to nominate more than one candidate and if Sharpe is willing to run for the office, I would like to see him run against Tiberius... these two guys would both be good MAs, I believe.

I think you can nominate as many candidates as you want.

        I accept the nomination

I promise to be a good MA, taking as an example the MA from Civ2, when he says:
"All is good Sire! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha...", even though I don't promise to be always drunk. Hmm, maybe sometimes, when the situation requires it.

Hmm, actually I was thinking that you want to nominate somebody for some other position. This way, that you nominate 2 persons for the same position, it is quite strange. I don't have anything against Sharpe and I hope somebody else will nominate him, but I think we shouldn't accept 2 nominations for the same position from the same person.

Sorry for mixing things up for you, Tibi. I just want that we have more than one candidate for every position (including the President), so that we really hold elections and not just an acclamation. If there is just one candidate for a given post, then we do not need to (and shall not) hold elections for that post at all, as it is virtually impossible to "not elect" that one candidate (as we would have nobody to serve in the office).

OK, so to have more than one nomination but not from the same person, I nominate Sharpe for the Military Architect (but I don't promise I'll vote him ).

Actually Tiberius would be an excellent choice for Military Architect !

(Sharpe's chief election adviser glares angrily at him - Sharpe wonders what mistake he made this time - oops! he was nominated to run against Tiberius and he just indicated that he was voting for him - doh!)

Seriously, with me now being completely blind to Apolyton at work (I can only read the Lego and Apolyton threads from 7-12pm eastern at most), I would be a handicap as any minister.

Perhaps I would be best in pitching in to help as a deputy if anyone is overwhelmed, but even then with my limited access to Apolyton ... maybe not...

Hopefully, I should be able to run (and gracefully lose ) for ministerial positions once the turns lengthen closer to 24 hours each team, but we are still playing a Legoland turn every day or two.

By the way, I would like to apologize if my behaviour has been occasionally rude the last little while - frustrations in real-life had really gotten under my skin!

I agree to be Enlightened again, as it doesn't require too much time. I currently have much trouble to access the saves (because of my gf, I am barely at home, and my internet access comes most often from a computer without Civ), so anyone more available can do the job better than me in this juncture.

Sharpe, is this a (polite) NO, I mean do you reject your nomination? I still don't know if I should put your name on the nomination list or not.

Spiffor, you were a great Enlightened and I would like to have you again in this position About your limited time, having a GF is actually the best aliby to not participating in Lego's life very actively Try to send her shopping or something just kidding

                      Tiberius,

No, I don't think that I should run - though I do appreciate you (and Vondrack) nominating me. Besides, wouldn't it be kind of ridiculous if your opponent didn't vote for himself LOL.

Spiffor has been a very good Enlightened so far (even if I don't necessarily agree about the avoidance of the strategic resource techs ).

The truth is that we seem to be doing well so far (knock on wood or in this case plastic keyboard) so unless people are running out of time or want a change, I suspect that few changes will be made or even should be made. Jack has clearly been busy and while we do appreciate his work as President, his decision to step away from that is probably wise.

Thanks for your support for my nomination, Sharpe!
Should things become more complicated or shouldn't I have all the time I have now to fulfill my duties, I will strongly consider you as a Deputy MA.

I guess this is my official declaration to run again for Master Builder. I know I have been a little slow on occasion, but I would like to think my contributions have helped!

I find it very fortunate that we have at least one fine candidate per every post to be taken... However, unless someone else shows up and challenges any one of the current candidates... what are we going to vote about?

Hmm, I don't think that we should automatically nominate the existing ministers as there is a possibility that they have become inactive or could become inactive either temporarily or permanently.

So has everyone on the list accepted nominations for those posts?
