Responding to my PM, delmar confirmed he intentionally left our team. He said he did not want to make a big fuss of it.

Ok. Sorry to see him leave.

As much as I hate saying this, I think that we should keep track of the membership lists of the other teams just in case he decides to join another team. (If they would even let in someone new at this point...)

Well, as it is always better to address problems before they emerge, I would like to discuss our future policy regarding inactive and new members. It has been said many times that several of our members are pretty much inactive, not even acknowledging they would be "observing members" only (which was what Colonel Kraken did and which was perfectly fine with me). As these members pose a potential threat to our security, possibly being spies for other teams, I'm not going to tolerate their silence forever.

The following currently authorized members are being PMed today the last time and asked to declare their level of involvement in the game. Unless I hear from them before February 20 (yes, that's correct, I really want to give them a chance), I will ask Jack_www to ban them and if they ever wish to be let in again, they will have to ask me or whoever might replace me as the President to be reauthorized:

aliatar - generally inactive, last post on Poly Dec 1, 2002
Darkness Edge - average activity in ACDG & C2DG, but not in our forum
Odin - very active in OT, but not in our forum
rendelnep - generally inactive, last post on Poly Nov 27, 2002
shadylookin - inactive, last post on Poly Nov 22, 2002

These people showed in our civgroup were never authorized in:

chairmanmeow - active in OT & Civ3-Stories; IMHO, not a valuable asset
JTFreak - 0 posts, out of question
monkspider - active in the OT forum; IMHO, not a valuable asset
PloreOSU - 0 posts, out of question
Tom Red - quite active in the PBEM forum; not sure about

(note, please, that I consider heavy activity in the OT forum coupled with little activity elsewhere as an indication that the person is interested more in talking than in getting jobs done - I do admit it may be unjust at times, but that's how I feel about it)

This would make our team consist of (alphabetically):

          Colonel Kraken (observing member)
          Jack_www
          Kloreep
          lmtoops
          Nimitz
          quantum_mechani
          redstar1
          Sharpe
          Spiffor
          Tiberius
          vondrack
          ZargonX
          ================
          12 members total

Now... IMHO, that is the team we need. We are getting very smoothly along and currently, I can't see any need for new members. Plus, I have two problems with new members:

The first one was easy to notice some time ago when delmar joined. Aside from delmar being sometimes a little bit of pain in the neck (while definitely very knowledgeable Civ3-wise, I admit), we spent quite some time explaining and "defending" our structure, organization, and procedures against his objections and counter-proposals... I am afraid it would be similar with new members generally. Our current members know very well how things work, where to look, how to take part... newbies would require quite an effort to blend in, IMHO. I admit I am not interested in charitable activities (i.e. helping newbies to blend in) very much... I would rather focus on playing the game.

And second, as discussed in a chat with several our members, there is a remote, but real possibility that another team getting eliminated from the game early (GoW looks like a candidate ATM) might try joining our team, eventually overwhelming our founding members, effectively taking over the team. Plus, there would still be a possibility of spies sneaking in...

          Thus, here is my suggestion:

Let's publicly announce the Legoland team is now closed and currently accepts no new members. The policy may be changed later, but is unlikely to change for the foreseeable future.

Your opinions? I am not going to post any polls, but would appreciate, if you at least drop a word about what you think about this proposal. Simple "ok" would be enough.

          Thanks

Agree. As long as the majority of the current members will remain active we do not need new members.

Maybe we could accept in the future players from eliminated teams on a case by case basis, but for now I agree with the above policy.

AFAIK Odin is ambassador too, so we'll need to do something about this. At least announce the corresponding team to address their requests to the President or FA.

Yes, I agree with exceptions on case by case basis... my primary intention is to stop attracting new members (IIRC, one of our members still invites new members to join the team in his signature). If there is a determined member of an eliminated team we have no problem with, we can make an exception, allowing him in. My proposal addresses the general, public policy of Legoland.

Nimitz and redstar are already taking of the problem, I believe.

Sorry about being in active but I don't have a great deal of internet access at the moment and priobably won't until May however I am still interested in Legoland - I just can't get on easily at the moment.

OK, deadline long gone, time to act...

Jack, ban the following members from Legoland, please:

                  aliatar
                  Darkness' Edge
                  Odin
                  shadylookin

rendelnep shall be kept as an observing member.

                  Thanks,

Radek, AFAIK the President is the one who has the power to ban. Or is it something that I don't know?

Nope, that power was left to Jack_www. I can moderate the forum, but that's it. I haven't felt any needs to ask Markos to give this power to me, as it is so seldom used.

I was just never told the URL for the ban page...

Just to let you know, guys.

Spiffor eventually responded to my PM, apologizing for not informing us about "his fading interest in demogames". He said we should elect a new Enlightened - he considers coming back one day, but probably only in several months.
