I know that they are a lot of threads already on the subject, but I think that is a very important matter. We really need to find were the iron deposites and horses are. We will need these if we want to survive into modern times. If we can controll a lot of the iron deposites and or horses we can limit the abillity of other teams to go to war, and tip the balance of power in our favor. All though if controll alot of iron some teams may go to war with us to get it so we have to be carefull of that. What do you guys think?

I'd say Iron is more essential, as we'll use it longer than horses (for railroads and factories), and it'll provide us with the strongest unit of ancient times.
Horses are a close second. However, I'd like to know if we have other people on our landmass (we have 24 turns) to discover it) before making such a decision : if we are indeed stuck on an island, we can delay IW or the Wheel mucho : we'd settle the entire place before other civs come by us anyways.
But if we have neighbours, I'm in favor of researching IW next. Swordsmen are much more impressive than chariots / horsemen."I have been reading up on the universe and have come to the conclusion that the universe is a good thing." -- Dissident
"I never had the need to have a boner." -- Dissident
"I have never cut off my penis when I was upset over a girl." -- Dis

I said most of what I had on this topic here in the D2Ch thread (Discussion to Chronicle ). While I do agree that if we meet anyone else on our landmass (or should we find out there is a surface connection to the RP/GoW landmass down in the south), we shall go for IW right after Writing, I will still oppose The Wheel quite strongly.
IMHO, this tech just sucks for us now and will keep sucking for quite some time. The jungle would prevent us from using chariots anyway, we would have to go for the Horse Riding to make use of mounted units. And even with Horsemen, the jungle would make them just as slow as any other foot based unit. The only place where mounted unit MAY come in handy would be beyond the isthmus. But that is just pure speculation... I would go as far as giving up on this tech completely, trading for it later (or researching it only when it's a cheap 4-turn tech, known by everyone else).

well the point is that I just think we should find the iron then horse as fast as we can.

I think IW would be a nice choice after writing. Of course, the situation may change unexpectedly and we can change our mind 24 times (or more) in the remaining 24 turns !"The only way to avoid being miserable is not to have enough leisure to wonder whether you are happy or not. "

That's not entirely true... due to the pop growth in Legopolis and Jackson, we should be done a bit earlier. Spiffor, would you be able to determine the exact time we need to research Writing?
